Potential for breakthroughs from highway interchanges.

The inauguration and technical opening of key transportation projects in Dak Lak province in recent times have contributed to resolving infrastructure bottlenecks, shortening geographical distances and travel times.

In particular, the strategic interchanges on the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway open up opportunities for breakthroughs in the areas along the route. This forms the foundation for shaping urban spaces, industrial clusters, and logistics services with great potential in the near future.

Spanning over 48 km and traversing seven communes in the western part of the province, Component 3 of the Khanh Hoa Expressway Project opens up numerous opportunities for socio -economic development. The formation of this expressway transforms remote and rural areas of the province into attractive destinations for investment. Previously, transportation barriers deterred investors from accessing areas far from the central hub, but now, with the expressway system, distances have been significantly reduced.

Speaking at the technical opening ceremony of Component Project 3, Mr. Tran Dinh Long, former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Law Committee, emphasized that this road opens up great prospects for the development of Dak Lak , helping to fully exploit the strengths of the local land and resources.

Highways not only open up transportation routes but also create new opportunities for development, contributing to socio-economic growth.

According to Mr. Long, the appearance of the expressway has broken the isolation of the remote and underdeveloped areas in the localities where the project passes through. Areas previously considered remote and disadvantaged in Dak Lak have now become potential hotspots on the economic map. In the not-too-distant future, these underdeveloped areas could completely transform into new development centers, attracting capital and high-quality human resources.

To realize the potential for development, the vision cannot be limited to just one province. In the future, the system of connecting roads linking National Highway 1, the Ho Chi Minh Highway, and strategic expressways such as Buon Ma Thuot - Nha Trang and Buon Ma Thuot - Phu Yen will create a vast and diverse development space.

However, to ensure this potential doesn't remain just on paper, Mr. Tran Dinh Long believes that the State needs to take a proactive approach in investing, not only in transportation infrastructure but also in supporting technical infrastructure and scientifically planning land use.

Another crucial issue pointed out by Mr. Long is population distribution. New planning needs to be linked to the relocation of residential areas to suit practical realities and facilitate socio-economic development. To achieve this, local leaders must possess a decisive mindset and policies, daring to think and act to maximize the utilization of available resources.

For Krông Pắc, the durian capital, the expressway is a "lifesaver" in the problem of transporting goods and agricultural products. The expressway significantly shortens the distance for transporting agricultural products from the raw material areas to major consumer markets and international seaports. Most importantly, the route helps reduce logistics costs – one of the biggest obstacles hindering the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products.

According to Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ea Knuec commune, Component Project 3 passes through the former Krong Pac district with a length of 33 km, including 4 important intersections out of a total of 6 intersections along the entire route. These intersections are not only entry and exit points for vehicles, but are also expected to be "gateways" connecting the economy, society, and culture, and the starting point for urban development and service projects along the route.

Ms. Trinh analyzed: "When transportation costs decrease, product prices will become more competitive, and the quality of agricultural products such as durian and coffee will also be better ensured as travel time is shortened. This will directly enhance the competitiveness of Dak Lak's key products in the international market."

In June 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to establish the Tan Tien Industrial Cluster with a scale of 74.92 hectares. This will be a hub for key industries such as: deep processing of agricultural and forestry products for export; textiles, garments, and footwear; fertilizer and animal feed production; non-fired building materials; mechanical engineering; and especially warehousing and packaging services to support local agricultural products.

Ms. Trinh believes that, with the current convenient transportation, a wave of investment in industry, services, and urbanization will soon emerge in areas where the expressway passes through.

Mr. Tran Dinh Long further shared that the potential for development from key transportation projects in Dak Lak in general, and the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway in particular, is enormous. However, turning potential into reality is a journey that requires the concerted efforts of the government, businesses, and the people. The expressways have opened the way, but the ultimate goal is how to walk on that path to create sustainable value, protect natural resources, and improve the lives of the people.
