In a video she posted to social media on Monday, Dzialo and her friend boarded a Tunisair flight from Rome (FCO), Italy to Tunis (TUN).
Both were extremely surprised when someone on the plane said the flight was going to Tunis, so they anxiously Googled where Tunis was.
Then they asked the flight attendant if the plane was actually going to Nice, France, but the flight attendant replied, "No."
Next, Dzialo pointed to her ticket, showing that it said "Tunis" and not "Nice". She asked another woman on the plane where Tunisia was and was told: "North Africa".

An American female tourist became famous for videos recounting how she mistakenly booked the wrong flight to Africa.

In a subsequent video, Dzialo explains that the booking agent likely misheard and booked them a flight to Tunis, Africa, instead of Nice, France. It's possible the agent confused "to Nice" with "Tunis," due to the similar pronunciation.
Upon boarding the plane and discovering the flight was different, both wanted to return to the airport, but the crew persuaded them to return to their seats, assuring them that Nice would be the next flight.
The problem was, they didn't actually have tickets to Nice, so they shrugged and stayed put.
After landing and going through numerous maneuvers and panicked conversations with flight attendants at Tunis airport, the two finally managed to buy tickets back to Nice, France.
In another video, Dzialo films the two of them arriving at Nice airport the following day.
The female tourist discovered she had arrived in Africa instead of France.
In an article published in the New York Post, one reader commented: "Honestly, of all the places in Africa you can go, Tunis is very close to Nice." The distance from Nice to Tunis by plane is 1 hour and 30 minutes, covering a distance of 800 km. Supporting this comment, another suggested why the two female tourists didn't stay to explore Tunis but instead immediately returned.
But many people also criticized the female passenger for not carefully checking her ticket before flying.
There was a case of mistaken identity where two best friends, Lynne Mazouz and Kira Smith, thought they had booked a flight to San Jose, Costa Rica - but their trip ended up in San Jose, California, USA.
From Nice to Tunis, and from Costa Rica to California – clearly, the first rule of travel is to always double-check your location and flight tickets before you take off.
