On May 10th, at Hai Phong train station and Nguyen Du flower garden, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism inaugurated the 2025 Hai Phong Delicious Food Festival, an event marking a new stage in the journey of building a unique and attractive "Hai Phong food tour" brand.

Taking place over three days, from May 10th to 12th, the festival brought together 23 participating units with more than 25 booths showcasing the culinary delights of the port city. From iconic local dishes like spicy bread, sủi dìn (a type of sweet dumpling), and pâté, to local specialties and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products from various districts, everything created a vibrant and captivating culinary landscape.

At the festival, visitors can also access tourism information, discover attractive destinations, visit souvenir and handicraft stalls, and receive thousands of discount vouchers for shopping and experiences in Hai Phong.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, the distinctive feature of Hai Phong cuisine lies in its free-spirited and individualistic nature, the result of a long process. Unlike the elaborate cuisine of Hanoi or the refined presentation of Hue, Hai Phong cuisine is a blend of local customs and the profound influence of other cuisines such as French and Chinese.

"Many dishes in Hai Phong have unclear origins, but they automatically become specialties when people mention this city," Ms. Mai shared.

Experts and tourists alike agree that Hai Phong is ushering in a new era in promoting its culinary culture, with a series of activities ranging from local food tours and food festivals to the annual, well-organized Golden Chef competition.

With the advantage of having delicious food readily available just outside the door, cuisine is not only an integral part of life but also a distinctive highlight that makes tourists love and remember Hai Phong and its people forever.
