Arriving at Kim Bong carpentry village at 7 a.m. in early April, we saw hundreds of Western and Asian tourists flocking to the village to visit, buy souvenirs, and take photos.
Moreover, they also quite enjoy being guided by artisans from the craft village in carving wood to create their own favorite products.

Using a chisel to engrave his name onto a piece of wood, Paul, a tourist from the Netherlands, seemed quite excited. Paul said that he had traveled to many places but had never had a hands-on experience like this.

Upon arriving at Kim Bong carpentry village, the carpenters very attentively guided me on how to use chisels and hammers to carve my name onto wood. The people of Hoi An are truly friendly, approachable, and hospitable. This trip will help me improve my skills even more.”

Similarly, Ms. LAS, also from the Netherlands, said that she found her trip to Vietnam very meaningful. Especially when she visited Kim Bong woodworking village, she had the opportunity to experience woodworking alongside the local artisans.
"The products made here are very beautiful, I love them and will tell my friends and family about this trip," Ms. LAS expressed.

Mr. Vo Duc Thi, the owner of a traditional woodworking workshop in Kim Bong, said that Western tourists visit his workshop most frequently from August of the previous year to April of the following lunar year. Each day, there are about 100 visitors from both Europe and Asia. They come here and he guides them in making small, attractive wooden products.

"Tourists who experience my woodworking workshop don't have to pay; they can give me a tip if they like, but I'm happy to accept it anyway. I think the increasing number of tourists visiting Kim Bong woodworking village in particular and Hoi An in general is a positive sign."

"Most tourists buy souvenirs to take back home after they leave, which provides my business with a significant source of income," Mr. Thi shared.

Kim Bong carpentry village is located on the right bank of the Thu Bon River, just a few oarsmen's strokes from Hoi An ancient town. This village of renowned carpenters was originally a mound on the river, over 500 years old.
Besides that, this place also attracts tourists with many architectural structures featuring extremely intricate designs, built by the skillful hands of the artisans of the woodworking village.
Today, Kim Bong carpentry village has become a tourist destination attracting many visitors to explore and learn about its culture. Kim Bong carpentry village not only attracts art lovers but also captivates tourists with a particular fondness for the unique cultural features of traditional craft villages in Hoi An.
