Looking at data from the recent record heatwave, digital travel platform Agoda focused on finding out how Vietnamese travelers “cooled off” in the sweltering weather during this period.
Accordingly, Agoda recorded a 12% increase in total searches for domestic travel destinations in April, showing domestic travelers' interest in destinations to avoid the heat during this record heat wave.
Data shows that coastal and mountain destinations are the most searched for April holidays, accounting for 80% of the top 10 searches.
According to data from Agoda, in the hot summer weather, Vung Tau and Phan Thiet are the two most popular destinations, leading the search for coastal "heat-escape" tourist destinations.
Da Nang and Nha Trang are also highly searched destinations thanks to their beautiful seascapes and cool weather. This reflects the trend of domestic beach tourism in the face of the harsh sunlight. On the other hand, Da Lat also attracts a large number of tourists who love the cool climate of the mountainous region.
“Our data clearly reflects the resilience and adaptability of Vietnamese travelers to extreme weather conditions,” said Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam. “The preference for beach and mountain destinations reflects the need to seek comfort and respite from the heat, and underscores the importance of flexible domestic travel solutions.”
The choice of coastal and mountainous destinations not only reveals current travel habits but also contributes to shaping overall travel trends, showing strong domestic interest in domestic travel destinations.
The trend of exploring local tourist attractions is contributing to reviving domestic tourism, boosting local economies and celebrating the country's diverse and rich natural beauty.
