In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade recruited 8,300 students but received 178,294 applications, of which only 13,308 were first-choice; 16,359 were second-choice; 17,192 were third-choice. Notably, 41,307 candidates registered for 10 or more applications. The highest application to the school was 132nd for Business Administration with an admission score of 20.

Mr. Pham Thai Son, Director of Admissions, said that the number of applications for admission to the school this year has increased to a record high (nearly 2.5 times higher than last year). The main reason is that there is no more early admission, all methods are implemented simultaneously in the first round. Meanwhile, last year, candidates who applied for early admission only re-registered their eligible admission applications to the system if they did not want to register for other applications. Therefore, this year, candidates tend to register for many applications to increase their chances of admission, leading to an increase in the number of applications to schools.

Although the number of candidates and registration wishes increased, according to Mr. Son, the scores and standards have fluctuated little. The reason is that the average score of many subjects in the high school graduation exam has decreased, especially the subjects in the B00 group (Math - Chemistry - Biology), which is used to consider admission to many majors of the school. Not to mention, the school's admission data shows that many candidates applying for admission have low scores. Last year, most candidates applying for admission had scores from 17 to 24; this year the average score is lower.
