Earlier, at 3:45 PM on October 7th, the Thuan An Port Border Guard Station received a report from the Thua Thien Hue Maritime Port Authority regarding a collision between the fishing vessel TTH-96329-TS, with 4 crew members, captained by Mr. Phan Luy (born 1970; permanent residence: Hai Tien residential area, Thuan An ward, Hue City), and the cargo ship Thuan Trung 08 while traveling in the South-North direction at coordinates 16º43'45"N; longitude: 107º37'11"E.
The fishing vessel TTH-96329-TS sank as a result of the accident. Three crew members of the TTH-96329-TS were rescued by the Thuan Trung 08 vessel. One crew member (Mr. Ngo Thai, born in 1971, residing in Hai Tien Hamlet, Thuan An Ward) is still missing.
The unit dispatched officers to coordinate with the Thua Thien Hue Maritime Safety vessel to the location of the distressed ship to conduct search and rescue operations. By 7:30 PM on October 7th, the vessel of Border Guard Squadron 2 had safely brought the three distressed crew members to the Border Control Station, Thuan An Port Border Guard Post, and provided medical care. After receiving medical care, the three crew members' health is now stable, and they have been handed over to their relatives.
Border guards are continuing to deploy vessels and coordinate with other forces to search for the missing victims.
