VTV.vn - A fisherman who suffered an accident while working at sea was promptly given emergency treatment by doctors at Van Don Regional General Hospital (Quang Ninh).

According to information from the authorities, on the afternoon of May 27th, a fisherman was affected by large waves while working at sea. The patient was taken to Van Don Regional General Hospital with multiple scratches on his body, lower abdominal pain, and prolonged urinary retention.

Dr. Pham Tien Dung, a specialist in Internal Medicine, directly examined the patient and directed the initial emergency treatment. Through clinical and paraclinical examinations, the doctors determined that the patient had acute urinary retention and a distended bladder. The patient had a history of benign prostatic hyperplasia and had undergone two previous surgeries.

Doctors and medical staff quickly performed a bladder drainage procedure through the pubic symphysis to resolve the urinary tract obstruction, helping the patient reduce pain and stabilize their condition.

Following initial emergency care, the patient was transferred to Facility 1 of Van Don Regional General Hospital for further specialized treatment. There, Meritorious Doctor Nguyen Huy Tien, Specialist II, directly performed the bladder catheterization procedure and advised the family on the next course of treatment.

The patient's health is currently stable, and their urinary function and overall condition are being closely monitored.

According to the hospital, the timely reception and treatment of the distressed fishermen further demonstrates the effective coordination between border guards and medical teams in providing healthcare for fishermen operating at sea.
