The Vietnamese national team is on its second day of training in Thu Dau Mot ward to prepare for their match against Nepal on October 9-10 at Binh Duong Stadium in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
This afternoon, only 22 players took to the field along with the coaching staff, led by head coach Kim Sang Sik. One additional player, Duc Chien, stayed at the hotel to work out at the gym.
According to information from the Vietnamese national team, midfielder Nguyen Duc Chien has suffered a hamstring strain. He needs to reduce intensity and train lightly so that doctors can monitor his condition after the end of V-League Round 6.
Duc Chien played with great enthusiasm and scored against his former team, The Cong - Viettel, in the match on October 2nd. However, Ninh Binh only managed a 1-1 draw at home.
Besides Duc Chien, center-back Bui Tien Dung (The Cong - Viettel) did not participate in training the day before. Bui Tien Dung received a red card in the 34th minute of the match against Ninh Binh and had to leave the field early.
He also joined the training camp quite late on October 3rd and was subsequently unable to participate in training. However, after three days of reduced intensity, the central defender has shown positive signs of recovery.
It is highly likely that Bui Tien Dung will participate in his first training session on October 7th. This will be a closed training session, with no media coverage, as announced by the Vietnam Football Federation.
Coach Kim Sang Sik's initial squad list included 24 players. Quang Hai suffered a shoulder injury before joining the training camp and requested to withdraw. The Vietnamese national team's squad remained at 23 players.
