Don't let the words of love to your parents be too late.

Báo Gia đình Việt NamBáo Gia đình Việt Nam18/03/2025

In today's fast-paced world, moments of quiet reflection on the father-son relationship are incredibly necessary.

Modern life is increasingly difficult and challenging, causing people to sometimes forget the values of family. Therefore, the writing contest "Father and Daughter," organized by Vietnam Family Magazine, has become a bridge connecting the love that is difficult to express in words.

Journalist Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association - believes that over the two seasons of the competition, thousands of articles have been submitted by children to their fathers, which are essentially letters from fathers to their children, expressing feelings that they usually find difficult to share.

“We often say that fathers love their children very silently, but expressing it directly to each other isn't easy. Through the pages of a book, through the pen, they have the opportunity to confide in each other. These stories may not be eloquent or as captivating as the works of writers, but they are true, moving stories that bring tears to your eyes,” said journalist Le Quoc Minh.

Journalist Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association - delivered a speech at the launch ceremony of the 3rd "Father and Daughter" writing contest.

According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the "Father and Daughter" writing contest serves as an encouragement for fathers to write down their thoughts about their daughters, and for daughters to boldly express and share their thoughts about their fathers while they still have the opportunity.

Perhaps everyone realizes that such father-son feelings need to be expressed daily, should be shown earlier when parents are still healthy, but sometimes in life it is difficult to express them, and even when the opportunity arises, it has become too late.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association confided that he himself has a daughter and always dotes on and loves her wholeheartedly. There were times when he needed CDs of his idols on business trips, or when his daughter asked in the middle of the night to photocopy her schoolwork, he would do everything he could to get it for her.

Journalist Le Quoc Minh shared: “Ten years ago, I sent my child abroad to study. My child is strong and independent, but I just want to cry. Although my child comes home to visit and calls frequently, I've lived far away from her for 10 years. The other day, on her birthday, March 7th, I sat and remembered every moment from the time she was born until now. I told her, 'Tomorrow half the world belongs to women, but today the whole world belongs to you.'"

Commenting on the significance of the writing contest organized by Vietnam Family Magazine, the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association stated that the bond between a father and daughter is truly sacred, but it is difficult to fully express it without writing contests like "Father and Daughter".

Journalist Le Quoc Minh highly praised the "Father and Daughter" writing contest organized by Vietnam Family Magazine.

"Therefore, this writing contest should be extended, spread throughout society, and encourage participation from many different groups. We can easily see that there are older people who have many memories and wonderful stories. Young people may not have the time to sit down together, but they will certainly have their own stories. Memories from childhood in their hometowns or stories from studying or working far away... This will help us preserve family values, help family members bond more closely, and overcome the stresses of life," said journalist Le Quoc Minh.

According to the president of the Vietnam Journalists Association, although the competition received many entries and had a certain impact on society after two editions, it still did not meet the expectations of the organizers or what we had hoped for.

"Thousands of such articles don't fully reflect the feelings of tens of millions of people in society towards their parents or of fathers towards their daughters. But taking the first steps is important, and over three seasons, the reach will be wider. It's not just through the platforms of Vietnam Family Magazine; other media outlets are also contributing to spreading this competition."

"Not only professionals but also non-professionals, ordinary people are increasingly participating, making the preservation of family values even more effective and helping us overcome difficulties in daily life," journalist Le Quoc Minh commented.

Therefore, the message: "Don't let words of love for your parents be spoken too late" is expected to create a new breakthrough in the third edition of the "Father and Daughter" writing contest.
