A fisherman with a traumatic brain injury was transported by helicopter from Truong Sa Island to the mainland for treatment.

Fisherman Mai Anh Tuan suffered a traumatic brain injury and was admitted to the Truong Sa Island Medical Clinic on August 5th. Today (August 6th), he was airlifted to the mainland for further treatment.

On the afternoon of August 6th, the Command of Naval Region 4 announced that fisherman Mai Anh Tuan, 30 years old, residing in Hoai Hao ward, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province, who suffered a traumatic brain injury, had been airlifted from Truong Sa to Military Hospital 175 (Ho Chi Minh City) for further treatment.

According to the 4th Naval Region Command, fisherman Mai Anh Tuan was admitted to the Truong Sa Island Medical Clinic for emergency treatment at 2:30 PM on August 5th. He was then examined online by Military Hospital 175 at 4:00 PM the same day, which diagnosed him with an open head injury, a brain wound with loss of skin, fascia, muscle, dura mater, and brain tissue in the right posterior temporal region, and a fractured right frontal bone due to a work accident.

According to the doctors, it was necessary to closely monitor the patient's condition, maintain strong antibiotics, provide fluid and electrolyte replacement, and care for the open head wound. However, after a period of treatment and local care, the patient was at risk of severe infection, so Military Hospital 175 recommended transferring the patient to shore by helicopter.

At 11:45 AM on August 6th, EC-225 aircraft number 8619 of the 18th Army Corps, carrying four members of the medical team from Military Hospital 175, landed on Truong Sa Island to transport patient Mai Anh Tuan to the hospital for further examination and treatment. The aircraft departed the island at 12:55 PM.

Earlier, at around 6:00 AM on August 4th, while fishing in the waters near Tien Nu Island (Truong Sa archipelago), fisherman Mai Anh Tuan was injured in the head.

The patient was brought to the Trường Sa Island infirmary at 2:30 PM on August 5th by the vessel BD-95653TS and was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.
