Coastal road (phase I): Opening up Ninh Binh's marine economic corridor

The bridge connecting the two banks of the Day River has been completed.

With the determination of the investor, local authorities and the consensus and support of the people, the route was completed ahead of schedule, opening up a new development corridor, bringing Ninh Binh homeland firmly on the path to prosperity.

According to the Ninh Binh Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the unit assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to be the investor of the Phase I Coastal Road Project, the section passing through Ninh Binh province, the route has a total length of 3.25km. Of which, the 2.063km long section is invested in the foundation, designed according to the standards of a grade III plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h and a roadbed cross-section of 12m wide.

The most important component of the project is the Day River overpass bridge with a length of 1.2km, a cross-section of 12m, and 22 spans. The bridge uses a continuous girder structure using the balanced cantilever method, meeting the HL-93 load capacity, with a clearance of 85x15m for 3,000 DWT ships. This is considered one of the most modern bridge construction technologies today.

Mr. Dang Huu Truong, Deputy Manager of the Management Board, representing the investor, said: “Assuming to be the investor, we determined that this is a great political responsibility. The biggest difficulty is to ensure the shortened progress while maintaining the quality and aesthetics of the project. With the strong direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the close coordination of the sectors and localities, the project has been completed as committed.”

The Day River overpass, part of the Coastal Road project, has been put into operation.

During the site clearance process, the project passed through many households in Kim Son and Nghia Hung districts (old), directly affecting their lives and production. Therefore, localities have focused on promoting propaganda, organizing many dialogues, listening and explaining to help people understand the meaning of the project; at the same time, fully and transparently implementing compensation, support and resettlement policies. Thanks to that, the site clearance work was completed quickly, without hot spots or complaints, and received high consensus from the people. Mr. Nguyen Van Tao, a resident of Nghia Lam commune, shared: “As soon as we heard that the province was building a coastal road and a bridge across the Day River, we unanimously supported it. Although we had to give up our production land, everyone understood that this was a project for the long-term benefit of our homeland. Today, seeing the spacious road and bridge, we are very happy and proud. This is a common achievement, a common joy of the whole community.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong and his wife, from Kim Dong commune, currently living in Dak Lak , were emotional while traveling on the coastal road.

As a son far from home, when he had the opportunity to return, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, from Kim Dong commune, currently living in Dak Lak, emotionally shared: “After more than 40 years away from home, today I returned to witness the modern bridge over the Day River, I see that my hometown has changed a lot. In the past, traveling was difficult, but now the new bridge not only facilitates transportation but also connects people's hearts. This is truly a great gift for people in coastal areas.”

Identifying this as a key project, throughout the construction process, the contractor always strives to ensure technical quality, aesthetics, fire prevention and fighting safety, environmental sanitation and labor safety. Mr. Ninh Quang An, Deputy Director of Cuong Thinh Thi Construction Investment Group Joint Stock Company said: “We identify this as a key political project, of great significance to the economic development of the province and the region. Therefore, the construction process must not only ensure quality but also focus on aesthetic factors. All engineers and workers work with the highest sense of responsibility. On extremely hot days, our brothers still stick to the construction site, both maintaining progress and ensuring absolute safety. We are proud to have contributed to creating modern and sustainable projects for our homeland.”

The coastal road project phase I is not simply a route, but also has strategic economic, social and political significance. The route contributes to completing the Northern coastal infrastructure, making Ninh Binh an important component in the development of the national marine economy; at the same time, opening up opportunities to form industrial clusters, coastal tourist areas, improving transport capacity, rescue and climate change response. More importantly, the project has clearly affirmed the political determination of the Provincial Party Committee in the new term: to build a synchronous and modern infrastructure, creating a foundation for sustainable development.

From the bustling construction site with the sound of machinery to the joyful inauguration day, the project has proven a truth: when the Party's will is combined with the consensus of the people, all difficulties can be overcome. This is a project of the Party's will and the people's heart; a symbol of the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain", of solidarity and unity.

Today's coastal road not only opens up a new development space for Ninh Binh, but also leaves a beautiful mark in the hearts of the people: a project of faith, of the aspiration to rise up, of the close bond between the Party and the people. With the new momentum from this project, Ninh Binh enters the term of the first Provincial Party Congress with great faith, determination and expectations: to continue to open up roads to prosperity, to make the homeland increasingly develop sustainably, civilized, and rich.
