On August 16th, Epic Games, the developer of the popular game Fortnite, launched its app store, offering users an alternative to Apple and Google's app stores.

The Epic Games Store app store is now available to Android phone users worldwide, as well as to iPhone and iPad users in Europe.
Epic launched its app store after waging legal battles and lobbying regulators to limit Apple and Google's dominance in the app market for phones running the operating systems of the American tech giants.
The new European Union (EU) law, known as the Digital Markets Act (DMA), has forced Apple to remove barriers for app developers in Europe.
Speaking at a press conference at the company's headquarters in Sweden, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said: "We are thrilled to be launching our games on iOS and Android, thanks to Europe's newly enacted DMA regulations."
Epic aims to reach 100 million app store installations on Android and iOS devices by the end of this year.
In addition to Fortnite, Rocket League Sideswipe is also available on Epic's app store, as is Fall Guys, making its mobile debut.
The video game Fortnite is also making a comeback to iPhones and iPads after being banned in 2020 for attempting to circumvent Apple's payment rules.
