At a meeting with the Electricity Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) and the National Power System and Market Operations Company (NSMO) on coordinating operations during the 2025 dry season and ensuring electricity supply for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) Ngo Son Hai stated that, following the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, EVN has requested its units to prepare plans and measures to ensure electricity supply for the April 30th - May 1st holiday.

Accordingly, EVN has assigned specific tasks to the power generation corporations, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), and the distribution corporations.

Specifically, power generation corporations are required to prepare sufficient fuel, supplies, and spare equipment to ensure the highest possible availability of generating units.

EVNNPT has established steering committees at the Corporation and its units, developed plans to ensure electricity supply, and coordinated with dispatching units to ensure operational efficiency; inspected critical sections of transmission lines, thoroughly addressed potential violations of the corridor, and ensured the highest possible availability of power lines and substations.

The power corporations and power companies are tasked with coordinating with the authorities to review event venues, develop 24/7 power supply plans, and prevent power outages in key areas such as Party and State offices, festival venues, and cultural and artistic events.

In addition, EVN requests that its units proactively coordinate with the dispatching unit in carrying out their tasks.

In major event-hosting cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025) are taking place, the electricity sector has developed priority power supply plans, is on duty 24/7, and is coordinating closely with local authorities, the military, and the police to ensure absolute safety.

According to NSMO representatives, during the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, hot weather may occur in the South, but it will not be severe. Hot weather is not forecast for the North and Central regions. The average national electricity demand during the holidays is expected to be around 65-75% of the average daily consumption.

The principles for developing the power system operation plan for April 30th and May 1st are ensured to be strict, scientific , flexible, and to arrange the operation of power sources rationally to ensure safety and reliability under normal conditions and to flexibly switch in abnormal situations, balancing power sources in different regions.

During a site inspection of several key power supply points serving the April 30th national holiday in Ho Chi Minh City and a meeting with the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Dispatch Center and Saigon Power Company (PC Saigon), Deputy General Director Ngo Son Hai highly appreciated the preparations for power supply during the April 30th national holiday by the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) in general and PC Saigon in particular.

Emphasizing that the grand ceremony is a particularly important political event for the nation, the Deputy General Director of EVN requested that EVNHCMC thoroughly instruct all relevant subordinate units to absolutely avoid any errors in the process of ensuring electricity supply.

In fact, EVNHCMC has fully prepared 220kV power sources, 110kV power sources from its own substations, a medium-voltage grid with 3-4 power sources, plus backup diesel and UPS power sources.

EVN leaders also noted that, based on experience in supplying electricity for major political events of the country, all preparation, rehearsal, and inspection work must be thoroughly reviewed and no complacency can be tolerated.

At the same time, it is required that the power supply for the event be closely coordinated with the event organizers; including the power management departments of the event organizers, to avoid overlapping responsibilities and to ensure the safest possible handling in case of an incident.
