Construction begins on two key projects to increase power supply capacity in special economic zones.
One of EVNSPC's key events to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Phu Quoc 220kV Substation in An Giang province. This project is of particular importance in ensuring a stable and long-term electricity supply, meeting the ever-increasing load demand, creating a solid power infrastructure foundation, contributing to socio-economic development, attracting investment, and affirming the role and position of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone in the future; it also contributes to ensuring safe and reliable electricity for the APEC 2027 Summit.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for the Phu Quoc 220kV Substation on the morning of December 20th, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, stated that on December 15th, Phu Quoc marked several important milestones: becoming the destination for Vietnam's 20 millionth international tourist ; attracting many large-scale investment projects; and gradually completing its transportation, urban, port, and airport infrastructure, ready to serve the APEC High-Level Conference in 2027. In this context, investing in the Phu Quoc 220kV Substation is an essential, strategic, and urgent requirement.
Also in An Giang province, on December 17th, EVNSPC commenced construction of the Lai Son 110kV Substation (Kien Hai Special Economic Zone). The project has a total investment of over 101.4 billion VND. Once commissioned, the Lai Son 110kV Substation will effectively utilize the existing An Bien – Lai Son 110kV power line, which operates at 22kV, providing stable and continuous electricity, reducing the 22kV power supply radius, minimizing power losses, and meeting the needs of households, businesses, administrative units, border guards, and coast guard on Lai Son Island and neighboring islands for daily life, services, production, and tourism. It will also create momentum for the development of light industries, supporting industries, fisheries logistics, and serve the development of the marine economy and marine tourism activities.

Three projects ensuring electricity supply to local areas have been energized and inaugurated.
Along with the commencement of construction projects, EVNSPC has energized and inaugurated three key projects to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Accordingly, on the morning of December 19th in Tay Ninh province, EVNSPC, in coordination with relevant units, held the inauguration ceremony for the Tam Vu 2 110kV Substation and connecting power lines. The project, with a total investment of over 147 billion VND, will, upon commissioning, promptly meet the load demand in Thuan My, An Luc Long, Tam Vu communes and surrounding areas; improve voltage quality, reduce power losses on the regional distribution grid, and alleviate the load on the existing Tam Vu 110kV Substation.
Also on December 19th, in Ca Mau province, EVNSPC energized the Thoi Binh 110 kV Substation and its branch line. The project, with a total investment of approximately 120 billion VND and a capacity of 2x40 MVA, will significantly contribute to reducing the load and power supply radius for the existing An Xuyen and Khanh An 110 kV Substations. It will also ensure the load demand for the area, enhance power supply to Thoi Binh commune in the coming years, improve regional 110 kV grid connectivity, reduce power losses, and increase the reliability of power supply to the area, meeting the N-1 criterion.

Meanwhile, in Dong Nai province, the Long Thanh Airport 110kV substation and connecting power lines, with a total investment of over 158 billion VND, were inaugurated on the morning of December 16th, marking an important completion of the power infrastructure serving Long Thanh International Airport – a key national project. The main components of the project include: a 3.8km long 110kV double-circuit power line; two 40MVA transformers (total capacity 80MVA) and six 22kV outgoing lines directly supplying power to the airport's load.
Previously, Dong Nai Power Company and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) successfully connected the 22kV outgoing lines of the 110kV Long Thanh Substation, officially integrating it into the national power grid and the internal distribution system of Long Thanh International Airport. This ensures a safe and reliable power supply when Long Thanh International Airport becomes operational and receives its first flights; and prepares power supply scenarios for the next phase of commercial operation and expansion of the airport, with a capacity of up to 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year.
