Mark Zuckerberg, the boss of Meta, has just announced that he will bring Broadcast Channels to Facebook and Messenger. Broadcast Channels are public messaging tools, from one person to many, for Facebook pages.
Accordingly, fanpage admins, such as content creators and public figures, can use the Notification Channel to reach and interact more with their community. Admins can use the Notification Channel features to receive instant feedback from the community, or images, behind-the-scenes videos or voice messages to create more authentic interactions.
If you receive a notification on Facebook Page Manager that the feature is available, you can create a Notification Channel from your fan page. If you don't receive a notification, you can join the waiting list and be notified when the feature is available.
After the admin creates a Notification Channel and sends the first message, the fanpage followers will receive a notification to join the channel. In this space, only the channel creator can send messages, members of the Notification Channel can only express their feelings about messages and vote in polls.
Users can join Notification Channels from their favorite Facebook fan pages and view the channels they have joined in their chat list. After joining a channel, users will start receiving notifications when these fan pages post new content.
Notification channels are a new feature that will be added to Facebook and Messenger. However, this feature is very popular and has brought success to Telegram in the past. This is seen as a move to imitate the feature to compete directly with competitors, similar to how Meta launched Facebook Reels to compete with TikTok and Threads to compete with X (Twitter).
Sharing about Facebook's new feature, content creator and streamer MisThy said: " With Notification Channel, I can share my schedule and personal opinions more easily. In particular, when receiving messages, people can also express their opinions simply through emojis. Responding through emojis like this makes me feel more comfortable than reading comments, because some comments may be inappropriate or negative ."
Meta is currently testing Notification Channels for Facebook fan pages and plans to roll out the feature globally in the next few months. All Facebook users can join these Notification Channels to stay updated with the latest information from their favorite fan pages.
