Fernandes has become the focus of transfer speculation as his future at Manchester United begins to be questioned. According to the Daily Mail , the "Red Devils" captain is said to be open to a new project at the end of the season, despite turning down a huge offer from the Saudi Pro League earlier in the summer.
Fernandes is considering a move at the end of the 2025/26 season, with Saudi Arabia, MLS and a big European club being considered. At the moment, a move away from Old Trafford this summer is considered unlikely, but that could change if Al Ittihad make him an "irresistible" offer before the Saudi transfer window closes on September 10.
It seems that Fernandes' final days at the "Theatre of Dreams" are gradually approaching, especially when fans started to turn their backs on MU's "number 8" when he played poorly in the opening two rounds of the 2025/26 Premier League.
In June, Al Hilal attempted to bring Fernandes to the Middle East for a fee of around £100m and a 3-year contract worth £700,000/week. Agent Miguel Pinho even flew to the Middle East to negotiate. However, after much consideration, the Portuguese midfielder decided to refuse.

Fernandes could be the next blockbuster to join the Saudi Pro League. |
"Al Hilal were very nice, they talked to my agent. I also talked to my wife and she asked: 'What do you want?'. She always supports me. But I want to continue playing at the highest level, conquering big titles. I still have a burning passion for football," Fernandes shared.
Not only did Fernandes confirm that he spoke directly to Al Hilal's president, he also revealed that he consulted coach Ruben Amorim, but he emphasized the importance of the player in MU's reconstruction plan. "The club doesn't want to sell me, they don't lack money. If I wanted to leave, things would be different," said the 30-year-old star.
Meanwhile, MU had an active transfer period when spending more than 200 million pounds to bring in 3 strikers including Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. MU also kept an eye on young midfielder Carlos Baleba of Brighton.
If Al-Ittihad really spends a lot of money and MU agrees to let him go, Fernandes could become the next blockbuster to join the Saudi Pro League. On the contrary, the "Red Devils" will have more money to cover the transfer fee.
