Rice prices reversed course and fell slightly.

Today, February 6, 2025, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remained relatively stable, with low market volume and stable prices for all types of rice.

Specifically, regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of OM 380 raw rice has decreased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 7,300 - 7,400 VND/kg compared to yesterday; finished OM 380 rice fluctuates between 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; IR 504 raw rice fluctuates between 7,700 - 7,800 VND/kg compared to before Tet; finished IR 504 rice fluctuates between 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg; and 5451 raw rice fluctuates between 8,800 - 8,900 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, prices range from approximately 5,200 to 7,300 VND/kg. Currently, broken rice is priced at 7,100 - 7,300 VND/kg; dry rice bran has decreased by 100 VND, ranging from 5,200 - 5,300 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Observations in various localities today show that rice supplies are arriving sporadically, and buying and selling transactions are sluggish. In Lap Vo ( Dong Thap ), transactions are sporadic, with little fragrant rice available; warehouses are buying good quality rice at slightly higher prices, while lower-quality rice prices are decreasing. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), rice supplies are low, warehouses are buying sporadically, rice quality is fairly good, and bulk rice prices are relatively stable.

At Sa Dec market (Dong Thap province), trading is sluggish, with purchases coming in sporadically, and the price of fragrant rice is slightly increasing. In An Cu (Cai Be district, Tien Giang province ), rice is available sporadically, with prices down 100 dong compared to yesterday, and buying and selling remains slow.

At retail markets, the prices of various types of rice remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Currently, regular rice ranges from 16,000 to 17,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg; long-grain fragrant rice is 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg; common white rice is at 17,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at 22,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 21,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice ranges from 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice is 22,000 VND/kg.

Similarly, regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the current prices are as follows: IR 50404 rice (fresh) ranges from 5,400 - 5,600 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice ranges from 5,800 - 6,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) ranges from 6,600 - 6,800 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is at 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg; OM 18 rice (fresh) ranges from 7,600 - 7,800 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; and Nang Hoa 9 rice is at 9,200 VND/kg.

Observations in many localities today indicate that supply is sporadic, and transactions of newly harvested rice remain slow. In Kien Giang, transactions of newly harvested rice are slow, farmers are offering stable prices, and buyers are cautiously observing the market. In Dong Thap, transactions of the winter-spring rice crop are sporadic, and prices are stable.

In Bac Lieu, the remaining autumn-winter rice crop is being harvested gradually, with farmers offering slightly lower prices compared to yesterday. In Dong Thap, farmers are offering stable prices, but transactions are slow. In Soc Trang, farmers are offering a large quantity of rice, but traders are buying slowly, and the asking prices remain stable.

In Can Tho, winter-spring rice trading slowed down, while fragrant rice prices remained stable. In Hau Giang, farmers offered to sell a lot of rice harvested at the end of the month, but trading was slow due to sluggish demand from traders. In An Giang, farmers offered stable prices for all types of rice, with fragrant rice trading higher than other varieties.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today decreased slightly compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price of 5% broken rice is 404 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is 377 USD/ton; and 100% broken rice is 318 USD/ton.
