Hearing you say that, I changed my schedule to bring you a surprise about a very different Dak Lak - soft, flat and poetic. That is, on the plateau there are countrysides like the plains, where the gentle flow has created a land with the appearance of the river delta. There are long, straight fields, when the rice is ripe, the whole space is filled with brilliant yellow, fragrant with the smell of newly harvested straw. In that place, people do not only live on coffee, pepper, rubber, durian but also cling to the fields.

Such a Dak Lak exists in Krong Ana district (South of the province), named after the Krong Ana river, one of the two tributaries of the Serepok river. The Serepok river no longer rushes down famous rapids such as Dray Nur, Dray Sap, but sometimes flows quietly, winding between green and yellow fields like a gentle lullaby of the earth and sky. A very peaceful rhythm of life - the rhythm of the fields, of the rivers, of the people on the plateau carrying the soul of the beloved Northern and Southern countryside. The fields of Binh Hoa, Quang Dien, rice growing from the red basalt soil, rustic but proud. With an annual planting area of tens of thousands of hectares, Krong Ana is one of the large rice granaries of Dak Lak and has built the brand "Krong Ana Rice".

Peaceful fields on the plateau.

A Dak Lak in the shape of a plain appears when following National Highway 27, starting from Yang Tao commune to Buon Triet, Buon Tria (Lak district) with picturesque rice fields.

And going back in history, one cannot help but be surprised and unable to imagine that those fertile, peaceful fields were originally a desolate, swampy, reedy area. Half a century ago, after the liberation day, thousands of people with primitive tools and a spirit of enthusiasm, daring to think and dare to do, carried out a "revolution" to reclaim and open up the land. The fields were shaped, expanded, and connected from the communes of Buon Triet, Buon Tria of Lak district to the districts of Krong Ana, Quang Phu, Duc Xuyen (Krong No - Dak Nong today).

I told you that I had the opportunity to visit Buon Tria during the harvest season. In the middle of the vast fields, the elderly, women, and children went to the fields together, their hands moving quickly and their mouths laughing loudly. The smell of new straw, the sound of the threshing machine mixed with the calls to each other in their native M'nong and Ede languages, creating a vibrant symphony of the harvest. Sitting down to lunch in the middle of the fields: sticky rice, grilled fish, lemongrass salt, and wild vegetables, oh my, more delicious than any delicacy I have ever enjoyed.

A Dak Lak in the shape of a plain is present even in the remote border area - Ea Sup district (Northwest of the province). Ea Sup is a plain of two extremes: hot and dry and rainy, yet, this lowland has a real rice field in the middle of the forest. In the rainy season, Ea Sup is like a giant reservoir. People here not only live with the land but also "negotiate" with the water. Ea Sup has built Ea Bung, Ea Rok, Ea Le fields, some places grow three crops thanks to the irrigation system that brings water from the upper Ea Sup lake. The border is more prosperous with the support of rice plants.

Traveling thousands of kilometers just to wander around and listen to the history of the fields, you say it is interesting because the value does not lie only in the high-class resorts, the majestic and vibrant tourist attractions, but in the primitiveness and simplicity of the land, the vastness of the fields, the peace of the storks spreading their wings. A tonic for the soul, a breath that fills the chest, both strange and close, both familiar. Dak Lak, in the shape of a plain in the middle of the plateau, just whispers and invites with its own gentleness. An invitation that is not noisy, but profound enough to make anyone who has set foot there linger forever.
