Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, shared his views at the program. |
The program was attended by guests and speakers including leaders from the Department of Culture and Sports; the Central Vietnam Branch of the Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism; the Hue City General Library; soft skills training experts; culinary artisans; and lecturers and students from the school.
During the program, speakers exchanged and shared insights on many fascinating topics: The importance of books in the age of artificial intelligence; the application of AI in library management - towards digital transformation. In particular, the speakers analyzed and clarified the role of reading in developing thinking skills in the 4.0 era; how AI changes learning behavior and knowledge access; and suggested ways to combine books and technology for effective learning.
Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, stated that Hue is a land rich in culture. With a focus on using culture as the foundation for development, Hue is implementing numerous solutions to preserve and promote cultural values, including reading culture. In fact, the vast majority of famous figures worldwide have a strong self-learning and reading culture, demonstrating the importance of acquiring knowledge.
Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day aims to encourage and develop the reading movement in the community, raising public awareness of the great significance and importance of reading for the development of knowledge, skills, thinking, education, and personal growth. In the context of the rapid development of digital technology and the gradual replacement of traditional reading habits by modern forms of information access, honoring the value of books and reading culture is becoming increasingly urgent. Dr. Phan Thanh Hai emphasized that reading is extremely important. Students can choose digital or traditional books, but should maintain the habit of reading. Social trends rise and fall quickly, but knowledge is not like that; it requires gradual accumulation. It is hoped that students will read, read as much as possible, not only books and materials related to their field of study but also books that update knowledge about human life…
According to Mr. Pham Ba Hung, Principal of Hue Tourism College, the school believes that the core value of education lies not in technology or grades, but in the heart of the learner and their belief in the power of knowledge. Everyone is acting in a new era – the era of digital transformation, where AI can write documents, create images, and even develop business strategies… But it is precisely in this era that preserving human values, nurturing independent thinking, and fostering deep emotions become more precious than ever. Every page of a book, every skill honed, every experience at school is a foundation that helps students grow in spirit and develop the necessary skills for their careers.
