In 1970, following the directives of the Central Party Committee and President Ho Chi Minh, the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Administrative Committee decided to establish Battalion 70 with the mission of fighting and supporting combat operations in the B battlefield. The unit consisted of 410 officers and soldiers from Regiment 104, along with forces from the province's Transportation and Health sectors.
During the period from 1970-1975, officers and soldiers of Battalion 70 fought and served in many key areas of the Tri Thien- Hue battlefield and border districts of Savannakhet province in Laos. The unit participated in many important campaigns, overcoming harsh war conditions, transporting thousands of tons of food and weapons to the front lines, contributing to the victory of the resistance war against the US. The achievements of Battalion 70 were recognized and commended by the Tri Thien-Hue Military Region.
At the meeting, veterans and former youth volunteers of Battalion 70 reminisced about the arduous but proud years of fighting of their unit.
This is an occasion to express gratitude for the contributions of the officers and soldiers of Battalion 70 in the struggle for national liberation, and at the same time to further affirm and promote the essence of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the construction and development of our homeland and country today.
