At the close of the most recent trading session, Arabica coffee prices on the Brazilian exchange continued to experience mixed movements. Specifically, the May 2026 contract reached 387.7 cents/lb, a slight decrease of 1.5 cents/lb compared to yesterday. Market analysts say today's global coffee price movements are driven by a two-month drop in Arabica inventories on the ICE exchange, while Robusta inventories have hit a 16-month low.

According to the Cepea/Esalq research center, the harvest in Brazil is starting slowly, with most coffee plantations not yet ready for harvesting. Arabica coffee inventories on the ICE exchange have fallen to their lowest level in two months, at 494,508 bags as of April 28. Robusta inventories on the ICE exchange have fallen even further to their lowest level in 16 months, at 3,755 lots as of April 21.

According to experts, domestic coffee prices are likely to remain stable until the end of the week as the whole country enters the long holiday period of April 30th and May 1st.

According to the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV), tensions in the Middle East are impacting the coffee market, with both Arabica and Robusta recording a strong price increase this week. The upward trend is driven by geopolitical risks along with continued tightening global supply, although somewhat restrained by the prospect of improved supply as Brazil enters its harvest season.

Meanwhile, according to statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, Vietnam's coffee exports in the first 15 days of April 2026 reached 99.4 thousand tons, worth 422.9 million USD, an increase of 13.2% in volume and a decrease of 16.1% in value compared to the same period last year.
