Urgent training on African swine fever prevention in An Giang

According to the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, An Giang has just deployed emergency training on African swine fever prevention and control, improving knowledge and skills in disease prevention for livestock farmers throughout the province.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of An Giang province has just coordinated with the provincial Agricultural Extension Center to organize a training course on prevention and control of African swine fever throughout the province. The training program was organized online, connecting with 102 points at the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones in the province. Participants in the training included pig farmers and officers in charge of animal husbandry and veterinary work in localities with household and farm-scale animal husbandry movements.

The training content focuses on implementing the plan to prevent and control African swine fever in the province in 2025. Disseminate legal documents related to livestock farming. Provide guidance on biosafety measures to prevent and control African swine fever and improve the capacity of livestock farmers to prevent and control terrestrial animal diseases.

Through the training program, it has helped veterinary staff, farm owners, and livestock households recognize the symptoms and characteristics of African swine fever. From there, they can proactively grasp and assess the epidemic situation, raise awareness of prevention, and promptly handle epidemics when they occur. Strengthen the application of scientific and technical advances in livestock farming, especially biosafety and disease-safety farming to protect livestock and prevent infectious diseases from animals to humans.

In addition to organizing training, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of An Giang province in coordination with related units also integrates propaganda work to improve the effectiveness of animal disease prevention and control. Coordinate propaganda on mass media on the prevention and control of African swine fever.
