Gia Lai province has requested the Education Department and local authorities to strengthen Vietnamese language instruction for students at the beginning of each school year.

The People's Committee of Gia Lai province has just issued a plan for implementing universal education and illiteracy eradication in the province in 2026, aiming to further consolidate, maintain, and improve the quality of education, ensure the right to education for the people, contribute to human resource development, and promote local socio-economic development.

According to the issued plan, Gia Lai province strives to maintain 100% of communes and wards meeting the standards for universal preschool education for 5-year-old children; at the same time, 84 out of 135 communes and wards are recognized as meeting the standards for universal preschool education for children aged 3 to 5, achieving a rate of 62.22%.

This is a key target being implemented according to the roadmap for universal preschool education for children aged 3-5 years old in the province.

Regarding universal primary education, Gia Lai province is focusing its resources on achieving Level 3 universal primary education standards by 2026. Specifically, the goal is for 130 out of 135 communes and wards to meet Level 3 standards, while the remaining units maintain Level 2 standards.

At the lower secondary level, the province aims to have 130 out of 135 communes and wards achieving universal education standards at level 2 or higher; and maintaining 6 communes and wards at level 1. Literacy eradication efforts continue to be emphasized, with the goal of maintaining 134 out of 135 communes and wards at level 2.

Regarding universal primary education, Gia Lai is focusing its resources on achieving Level 3 universal primary education standards throughout the province by 2026.

To achieve the set goals, the province will implement a comprehensive set of solutions, including strengthening leadership and guidance; consolidating the Steering Committee for Universal Education and Literacy at all levels; and linking the responsibility of heads of departments to the results of task implementation.

At the same time, we will promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in the management of universal education data in the direction of "accurate - complete - clean - vibrant - interconnected - shared".

The plan issued by the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee also requires the Education sector and localities to continue improving the quality of teaching and learning; strengthen Vietnamese language teaching for students at the beginning of each school year; support students at risk of dropping out; and effectively implement the "sponsorship model for students at risk of dropping out," especially in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, and border regions.

Besides reforming the propaganda work to be more direct and tailored to each target group, Gia Lai province will promote the role of village elders, village heads, and influential people in the community in encouraging students to attend school and eradicate illiteracy.

The province also mobilizes social resources to support facilities and learning materials, creating conditions for people to sustain their learning.

The Gia Lai Department of Education and Training is assigned as the permanent agency responsible for advising the Provincial People's Committee on organizing and implementing the program; coordinating with departments, sectors, and localities to inspect, evaluate, and recognize the results of achieving universal education standards and illiteracy eradication according to regulations.
