Gia Lai aims to achieve its GRDP target by 2024.

On the afternoon of January 26th, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue held a working session with the Standing Committee of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee. Also present were members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, including the Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong; the Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council Y Thanh Ha Nie K'dam; the Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on National Defense and Security, Lieutenant General Le Tan Toi; and the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Nguyen Dinh Khang, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Speaking at the working session, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue assessed that in 2023, with the synchronized and decisive involvement of the entire political system, Gia Lai province achieved many positive results in various fields. It completed and exceeded 17 out of 24 key targets in 2023; the province's gross regional product (GRDP) increased by 3.02% compared to the same period; GRDP per capita reached VND 59.08 million; and total budget revenue reached VND 5,575.3 billion.

The situation regarding territorial sovereignty, national border security, political security, and social order and safety has remained stable. Party building and rectification work has been carried out comprehensively and decisively. The activities of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and the People's Councils and People's Committees at all levels have become increasingly substantive and effective. The working methods of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other political and social organizations have undergone many innovations.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Chairman of the National Assembly acknowledged and commended the comprehensive achievements of the Party Committee, government, military, and people of Gia Lai province in 2023 across all fields; and the successful conduct of foreign relations with neighboring countries. In particular, the national unity bloc has been firmly consolidated.

The Speaker of the National Assembly highly appreciated the frankness of the Gia Lai provincial leaders in acknowledging the difficulties and shortcomings of the locality, and stated that it is necessary to look directly at and identify areas that need improvement in order to strive to overcome them.

Expressing pleasure that the province's planning work had been approved, the Chairman of the National Assembly requested the Party Committee and the provincial government of Gia Lai to promptly develop and effectively implement the plan; contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 23 dated October 6, 2022, of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region until 2030, with a vision to 2045. The Chairman of the National Assembly also stated that this is also the core content in the province's documents in the next term regarding vision, thinking, and overall programs.

The province promptly implemented the conclusions of the Central Government and the Resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government, such as Government Resolution No. 01 on the main tasks and solutions for implementing the socio-economic development plan, the state budget estimate, and improving the business environment and enhancing national competitiveness in 2023, and Government Resolution No. 02 on the main tasks and solutions for improving the business environment and enhancing national competitiveness in 2024.

With the spirit of avoiding a "leisurely start to the year, rushed end to the year," the Chairman of the National Assembly urged the province to achieve its GRDP target for 2024; overcome existing shortcomings and limitations in areas such as education and training; strengthen the leadership team, especially female officials and leaders at the commune level; effectively implement administrative reform; disburse public investment capital; and attract investors in processing agricultural and forestry products to increase product value, especially OCOP products.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that in Party building and strengthening the political system, it is necessary to enhance unity based on the principles of Party organization and building. Coordinating agencies such as the People's Councils and People's Committees must work together seamlessly, just as the National Assembly and the Government do now.

The Chairman of the National Assembly suggested: "The Provincial People's Committee should review all obstacles and, if necessary, forward them to the Provincial People's Council for resolution. For the next term, I propose that, from the beginning of the term, the Party Committee, the People's Committee, and the Provincial People's Council should coordinate to submit to the Standing Committee a resolution, similar to Conclusion 19 of the Politburo, for the action program of the entire 15th National Assembly term, to implement without waiting. Everything must be regulated by institutions, policies, and projects for the Provincial People's Council to approve; only then can the resolutions of the Central Government and the province be transformed into reality."

The Chairman of the National Assembly requested the province to promote the role of the provincial National Assembly delegation and the Fatherland Front; and to closely adhere to Resolution No. 28 on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue witnessed Vietinbank's donation of 10 billion VND to Gia Lai province to support the construction of a police station in a border commune.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue witnessed the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) donating 10 billion VND to Gia Lai province to support the construction of police stations in border communes, contributing to improving the quality of security, order, and border sovereignty protection in the area.
