Earlier, at noon on May 30th, Mr. Pham Van Duong (60 years old, residing in Ko Nia village, Ia Pa commune) frantically rode his motorbike, carrying a strange object in a sack, to the Ia Pa commune police station. He said that he had dug it up and intended to take it home to make an iron anvil, but found it too dangerous, so he handed it over to the police.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered it was a 175mm mortar shell, roughly the size of a thermos flask. Seeing the shell placed right at the headquarters, many officials were startled by the potential danger it posed.

Immediately afterwards, the Ia Pa commune police received and coordinated the safe handling of the projectile.

According to the Ia Pa commune police, although it gave everyone a scare, Mr. Duong's actions deserve praise because they demonstrate a sense of law compliance and responsibility to the community.

However, the police advise people not to move bombs, mines, warheads, or objects suspected of being explosives on their own. Specifically, do not saw, cut, smash, or tamper with these objects; and do not transport them by motorbike or other personal vehicles. Instead, people should preserve the situation, cordon off the area, warn those around, and then report to the nearest police or military agency for safe handling.
