On the morning of August 18, rice prices in the Mekong Delta continued to be stable. The market was quiet, traders were slow to buy, and both fresh rice and rice prices remained stable compared to the end of the week.

Popular rice varieties such as OM 18, Dai Thom 8 and Nang Hoa 9 fluctuate from 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 from 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg; IR 50404 and OM 380 around 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg. Glutinous rice of all kinds also remained stable, fresh IR 4625 glutinous rice was at 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg, 3-month glutinous rice fluctuated from 8,100 - 8,200 VND/kg.

Raw rice prices at large warehouses remained around the old level: OM 380 from 8,800 - 8,900 VND/kg, IR 504 around 8,450 - 8,550 VND/kg, OM 18 at 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg. Finished rice IR 504 was stable at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

By-products such as OM 504 rice bran, bran and rice husks continued to move sideways, fluctuating from 7,500 - 7,700 VND/kg, 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg and 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg, respectively.
Exciting export market
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remain stable. 5% broken rice is currently at $395/ton, 25% broken rice is $371/ton, 100% broken rice is $339/ton. According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Vietnam's rice exports in 2025 could reach 8.2 million tons, up 300,000 tons from the previous forecast. High demand from Africa and China is expected to boost growth, despite the Philippines' recent 60-day import restriction.
USDA also raised its export forecast for Thailand to 7.2 million tons and Myanmar to 1.9 million tons. For Bangladesh, import demand increased by 500,000 tons to 2 million tons. African markets such as Ghana and Ivory Coast emerged as major customers of Vietnam, in addition to the Philippines. Indonesia is forecast to import 700,000 tons this year, higher than the previous forecast.
