The domestic market has slowed down.

As of December 24th, the rice market in the Mekong Delta region is experiencing a quiet period, with prices remaining stable compared to previous days. The main reason identified is the limited supply of rice remaining at the end of the harvest season, while buying and selling transactions are slow.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the prices of common fresh rice varieties have not changed significantly.

rice variety Price (VND/kg)

Prices of raw and finished rice

For rice, both raw material and finished product prices remained stable. In localities such as Lap Vo and Sa Dec ( Dong Thap province ), the supply was low and the market demand was weak, leading some buyers to slightly pressure prices.

type of rice Price (VND/kg)
IR 504 raw rice 7,550 – 7,650
Dai Thom 8 raw rice 8,900 – 9,000
OM 5451 raw rice 8,150 – 8,300

The market for by-products also remained stable, with broken rice prices fluctuating around 7,500 – 7,600 VND/kg and bran at 10,000 – 11,000 VND/kg.

At retail markets, prices for all types of rice, from common to premium, remain unchanged. Nang Nhen rice still maintains the highest price, around 28,000 VND/kg, while regular rice ranges from 11,500 to 12,000 VND/kg.

The export market is stable.

On the world market, the export price of Vietnamese rice continues to remain stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), there have been no new adjustments to the prices of major rice varieties.

Type of rice for export Price (USD/ton)
Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains 435 – 460
Jasmine rice 453 – 457
100% broken rice 319 – 323

Experts believe that both the domestic and export markets are currently in a wait-and-see phase. Limited supply at the end of the season and no significant surge in demand are the main factors keeping prices stable. The market is expected to show clearer signals when the new harvest begins, providing impetus for transactions in the coming period.
