DNVN - On January 14, 2025, coffee prices decreased by 600 to 1,000 VND/kg, fluctuating between 117,700 - 118,200 VND/kg. Meanwhile, pepper prices stabilized at 147,000 VND/kg after a series of continuous decreases.
Coffee prices on exchanges
In London, Robusta coffee prices continued to fall for the second consecutive session of the week on the morning of January 14, 2025. The price for delivery in March 2025 was $4,902/ton, in May 2025 it was $4,826/ton, in July 2025 it was $4,749/ton, and in September 2025 it was $4,664/ton.
In contrast, on the New York floor, Arabica coffee prices increased slightly in the second trading session. The price for delivery in March 2025 reached 325.95 cents/lb, May 2025 was 321.90 cents/lb, July 2025 was 316.10 cents/lb, and September 2025 was 308.85 cents/lb.
Brazilian Arabica coffee has not fluctuated much, some terms have signs of slight increase and decrease. Specifically, the price for delivery in March 2025 is 404.05 USD/ton, May 2025 is 403.00 USD/ton, July 2025 is 393.70 USD/ton, and September 2025 is 379.00 USD/ton.
Domestic coffee market
On the morning of January 14, 2025, domestic coffee prices fell sharply, averaging VND118,100/kg. In the Central Highlands, coffee prices fell by VND600 to VND1,000/kg, fluctuating between VND117,700 and VND118,200/kg.
In Dak Nong , the highest purchase price reached 118,200 VND/kg, down 800 VND/kg compared to the previous day. In Dak Lak, the coffee price decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 118,000 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, the transaction price was at 118,000 VND/kg, down 800 VND/kg. In Lam Dong alone, the price decreased by 600 VND/kg, reaching 117,700 VND/kg.
According to the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), 2024 will be special when Vietnamese coffee prices reach the highest level in the world, for the first time Robusta export prices surpass Arabica. In 2025, coffee exports are expected to increase thanks to increased international supply and demand.
By the end of 2024, global coffee inventories will fall to 20.9 million bags, while demand continues to increase. Experts predict that coffee prices may rise again, ranging from 700 to 1,200 VND/kg when the market stabilizes.
Pepper prices remain stable
On the morning of January 14, 2025, domestic pepper prices stabilized at 147,000 VND/kg after many sessions of decline. In key localities such as Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau , and Dak Lak, pepper prices simultaneously reached 147,000 VND/kg.
In Dak Nong alone, pepper prices decreased slightly by 300 VND/kg compared to the previous session, currently reaching 147,200 VND/kg.
In the world market, according to the International Pepper Community (IPC), pepper prices on January 14, 2025 were stable and increased slightly. In Indonesia, Lampung black pepper prices increased by 314 USD/ton to 7,155 USD/ton, Muntok white pepper increased by 295 USD/ton, reaching 9,248 USD/ton.
Malaysian pepper prices remained high, with ASTA black pepper reaching $8,700/ton and ASTA white pepper at $11,100/ton. In Brazil, pepper prices remained stable at $6,350/ton.
Vietnam's pepper market also recorded stable prices, black pepper exports reached 6,350 USD/ton for 500 g/l, 550 g/l reached 6,650 USD/ton; white pepper exports reached 9,550 USD/ton.
According to forecasts, pepper prices are unlikely to exceed VND150,000/kg before Tet. Cash flow continues to focus on coffee, while import markets have completed import plans for the first quarter of 2025.
