Ha Tinh male student shares the secret to becoming valedictorian of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted - Nghe An

(Baohatinh.vn) - With 20/20 points in Math, student Vo Trong Khai (born in 2007, grade 9E, Nguyen Trai Secondary School, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh) became the only candidate to achieve a perfect score in the entrance exam to the specialized Math class - Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School (Nghe An).

In the recent entrance exam to grade 10 of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted ( Nghe An ), Vo Trong Khai achieved a total score of 57.6 (Math conditional score 9.5; Literature 8.5; English 9.6; specialized Math score 20 points (not including coefficient 1.5).

In particular, with 20/20 points in the specialized Math subject, Khai excelled in becoming 1 of 5 candidates with perfect scores in the specialized subject and was the only candidate with perfect scores in the entrance exam to the specialized Math class of this prestigious school (the remaining 4 candidates entered the specialized IT class).

Khai was born in the coastal area of Xuan Hoi (Nghi Xuan) in a family with parents who were businessmen. Since childhood, he has been passionate about Math and nurtured the dream of studying at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Family is always a source of encouragement and companionship with Khai during his studies.

Khai confided: “I admire many of my seniors who are former students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and I often look up information about the school. Since entering secondary school, I have set a goal of passing the entrance exam to the specialized Math class of this school; therefore, during my studies, I studied Math with passion and effort. Because I am a student from another province, in order to be eligible to enter the school, I had to submit an application and complete a number of other procedures.”

Khai is the only candidate to achieve a perfect score in the entrance exam to the specialized Math class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

During his studies, although he was passionate and gave priority to Math, Khai always balanced his time for other subjects. Thanks to that, he studied well in all subjects.

“Every day, I spend half of my time studying Math and half of my time on other subjects. I always complete my homework at school, then study advanced books and do online tests. In addition to class time, I study with subject teachers at school and study at home. When I encounter difficult problems, I will ask my teachers for advice or discuss with my friends to find the optimal solution. In addition, every day I spend more than 1 hour playing sports to relieve stress and continue pursuing my passion,” Khai shared about his study method.

Khai has won many prizes in Math competitions.

A secret to studying that Khai "revealed" is that he actively participates in many competitions to gain experience and gain experience in exams. Starting to participate in competitions since primary school and gradually increasing the frequency of competitions during his secondary school years, Khai has "received" many achievements in major "intellectual playgrounds" such as: gold medal in the MYTS Young Math Talent Search Competition in 2019, gold medal in the AMO Competition in 2019 and 2021, gold medal in the SEAMO Competition in 2019, silver medal in the 7th Iran Geometry Olympiad in 2020, first prize in the Provincial Math Competition for Excellent Students in 2021 - 2022...

Khai shared: “In addition to the awards, the valuable thing that the competitions have brought me is experience and test-taking skills. Through many competitions, I have been trained, familiarized with many types of questions and am no longer influenced by psychological factors when entering the exam. In addition, I have also made many friends in other provinces and cities through the competitions to exchange learning experiences with each other.”

Since childhood, Khai has been passionate about Math and dreamed of studying at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Mr. Vo Van Quyet - Khai's father said: "Khai is lucky to study at Nguyen Trai Secondary School with a team of excellent, experienced teachers who care deeply about students. My wife and I are both in business, so we mainly accompany our child mentally but cannot support him much in his studies. We often encourage our child to try hard but do not put pressure on him and always support and respect his decisions. In daily life, we always teach our child about the bond between family members so that he can share everything with his parents and brother."

Every day, Khai spends about 1 hour playing badminton with his parents.

The results Khai achieved in the exam are the joy and pride of his family and school and are a worthy achievement for his efforts and attempts. It is known that with his outstanding academic achievements, Khai was also a student who met the requirements for direct admission to the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences - Hanoi National University. However, he chose to go to Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students to follow his dream.
