The price of Pi on the OKX exchange on April 26, 2025, is fluctuating around $0.6477 to $0.6577 (equivalent to VND 16,860 to VND 17,130). As of the time of writing, the price of Pi on the OKX exchange has increased by 0.2% compared to yesterday, reaching VND 16,960.
Over the past seven days, the price of PI has increased by 4.9%, currently trading around $0.65. While trending upwards, this price increase isn't entirely convincing, as technical indicators suggest it may simply be a reflection of the overall cryptocurrency market recovery, rather than stemming from intrinsic demand for PI.
One key indicator that reinforces this view is the RSI (Relative Strength Index). Despite the price increase, the RSI remains stable, indicating a balance between buying and selling pressure.
This is different from the strong growth spurts that are usually accompanied by a surge in the RSI, a sign of market euphoria.
With the RSI indicator, a reading above 70 is a sign of overbought conditions, potentially leading to a downward correction; a reading below 30 indicates oversold conditions, suggesting a potential recovery.
Pi Network lags behind as Bitcoin surges.
Amidst a booming market, with Bitcoin surpassing $93,000 and its total market capitalization approaching $3 trillion, Pi Network seems to be lagging behind.
Having once attracted millions of users with its promise of cryptocurrency mining on mobile phones, the project is now facing numerous difficulties as the price of IOU on unofficial exchanges has plummeted. From nearly $3 at the end of February, the price of PI is now only around $0.65, causing disappointment among the user community.
Pi's market capitalization has also plummeted, from an estimated $19 billion to approximately $4.62 billion based on current IOU prices and circulating supply. Even considering the entire supply of 100 billion tokens, this figure drops to just $66 billion, a significant decrease from its previously improbable valuation of $300 billion.
This development partly reflects the wavering market confidence in Pi's ability to realize its true value, especially since the mainnet is not yet fully operational.
Despite the sharp price drop, attention has shifted to another detail: the potential assets held by the founding team. According to the Whitepaper published in 2021, the total supply of Pi is 100 billion tokens, of which 20 billion (equivalent to 20%) belong to the founding team, led by Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis and Dr. Chengdiao Fan.
At current valuations, these tokens are theoretically worth up to $13.2 billion, meaning each holder owns approximately $6.6 billion. If they control more of the Pi fund or the community, the figure could be even higher.
However, most of these tokens are still locked. According to data from PiScan, the unlocking process will gradually begin until May 2028, at an average rate of approximately 131.2 million tokens per month. This means that calling the two founders of Pi cryptocurrency billionaires at this point is still just a hypothesis; their value exists only in theory and cannot be realized immediately.
