Today's pepper prices (May 20th) in key production regions.
According to surveys, today's pepper prices in key production areas remain stable at around 139,000 - 142,000 VND/kg. The entire market is unchanged compared to yesterday, with no significant fluctuations in any locality.
Specifically, pepper prices in Dak Lak and the former Dak Nong region (now merged into Lam Dong province according to the administrative unit reorganization resolution) were both purchased at the highest rate of 142,000 VND/kg. These two areas continue to have the highest pepper prices in the country thanks to the distinctive quality of the pepper and the developed purchasing system.
In the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (now part of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger), the price of pepper today, May 20th, is 141,000 VND/kg - 1,000 VND/kg lower than the leading group. Dong Nai reached 140,000 VND/kg and Binh Phuoc also remained at 140,000 VND/kg.
Gia Lai recorded the lowest price on the pepper market today at 139,000 VND/kg. Compared to Dak Lak and the former Dak Nong region (which have the highest prices), the price in Gia Lai is 3,000 VND/kg lower. The difference between the highest and lowest prices across the entire domestic market is 3,000 VND/kg - a narrow gap reflecting a market currently in a supply-demand equilibrium phase.

World pepper prices remained unchanged today, May 20th.
At the close of the most recent trading session, according to data from the International Pepper Association (IPC), Indonesian black pepper (Lampung) prices remained stable at US$7,050/ton. Brazilian black pepper (ASTA 570) was priced at US$6,250/ton – the lowest among major exporting countries. Malaysian black pepper (Kuching ASTA) reached US$9,300/ton, the highest price among black pepper varieties on the international market.
In Vietnam, export prices for black pepper remain stable at around US$6,100 - US$6,200 per ton for 500 g/l and 550 g/l grades. This export price is US$850 - US$950 per ton lower than Indonesia and US$3,100 - US$3,200 per ton lower than Malaysia, reflecting the distinct market segment of Vietnamese pepper.

World white pepper prices: Malaysia highest at $12,200/ton
In the white pepper segment, Indonesian Muntok white pepper remained stable at US$9,244/ton. Vietnamese white pepper exports continued to trade sideways at US$9,000/ton – US$244/ton lower than Indonesian Muntok. Malaysian ASTA white pepper maintained its price at US$12,200/ton, making it the highest-priced white pepper on the international market.

Vietnam's pepper exports fell sharply by 25.4% in the first half of May.
According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first 15 days of May 2026, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 10,830 tons with a value of US$70.9 million. Compared to the first 15 days of April 2026, export volume decreased by 25.4% and value decreased by 22.5%. Compared to the same period in 2025, the volume increased slightly by 2.2% but the value decreased by 5%.
Export structure shows that black pepper reached 9,405 tons (accounting for 86.8% of the total), and white pepper reached 1,425 tons. Nedspice Vietnam led exports with 900 tons, followed by Pearl Group with 718 tons and Phuc Sinh with 638 tons. Olam Vietnam saw a sharp decrease of 50.5%, to 530 tons. Son Ha Spices was one of the few businesses that experienced positive growth, reaching 447 tons, an increase of 25.6% compared to the same period last month.
The US remains the largest export market despite a 36.3% decline.
Asia continues to be the largest market with 5,452 tons, accounting for 50.3% of the market share, but down 24.6%. China saw a sharp decline of 52.7%, to 1,074 tons; the UAE increased by 21.3%, reaching 718 tons; and India reached 595 tons, down 26.5%.
Exports to Europe reached 2,395 tons, almost unchanged (+0.3%), with Germany accounting for 422 tons and the Netherlands for 404 tons. The Americas reached 2,377 tons, down 31.1%. The US alone accounted for 2,040 tons, down 36.3%, but remains the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper.
Conversely, in the first 15 days of May 2026, Vietnam imported 3,148 tons of pepper (3,001 tons of black pepper and 147 tons of white pepper) with a value of US$16.1 million. Compared to the same period in April 2026, the import volume decreased by 14.9%, and the value decreased by 23%. Cambodia continued to be the largest supplier with 2,521 tons, accounting for 80.1% of the total import volume. Brazil ranked second with 357 tons (down 51.8%), and Indonesia reached 200 tons (up 37%). Olam Vietnam led in imports with 247 tons, a sharp increase of 144.6% compared to the same period the previous month.
