According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 4:30 AM Vietnam time today was $4,519 USD/ounce. Today's gold price is down 1.13% compared to yesterday. Converted using the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,402 VND/USD), the world gold price is approximately 143.8 million VND/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Therefore, the price of SJC gold bars is currently about 17.7 million VND/ounce higher than the international gold price.

Global gold prices fell as US airstrikes on Iran caused Brent crude oil prices to surge, raising concerns about rising inflation and casting a shadow over the outlook for US interest rates.
According to Stephen Innes, managing partner at SPI Asset Management, the current correction in gold prices may simply be a "purification" phase before entering a larger growth cycle.
In his newly released report, Innes argues that the sharp drop in gold prices following the Strait of Hormuz shock did not stem from a loss of investor confidence in the precious metal, but primarily from liquidity pressure.
According to him, with soaring oil prices, escalating transportation costs, and inflation expectations rising, many energy-importing countries have had to scramble to find sources of USD to maintain domestic financial stability. In this context, even gold – a strategic reserve asset – has been sold to address short-term liquidity needs.
"The market once thought that central banks selling gold would mark the end of the bull market. But the reality could be quite the opposite. This is a forced sell-off, not a change in strategic view on gold," Innes commented.
Domestic gold prices today
On the morning of May 27th, SJC gold bar prices reversed course and fell at many major businesses, erasing previous gains and bringing the common selling price back to around 161.5 million VND/ounce. The decrease mainly ranged from 400,000 to 500,000 VND/ounce for both buying and selling prices.
At Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), the price of SJC gold bars is also listed at 158.5 - 161.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price). Compared to the same time yesterday, each ounce of gold decreased by 500,000 VND in both buying and selling prices. The buy-sell spread remains at 3 million VND/ounce.
DOJI Group listed SJC gold bars at around 158.5 - 161.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), a decrease of 500,000 VND/ounce in both directions compared to the previous session. The buy-sell spread remained at 3 million VND/ounce.
PNJ also adjusted the price of SJC gold bars down to 158.5 million VND/ounce for buying and 161.5 million VND/ounce for selling, a decrease of 500,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices compared to yesterday. The buy-sell spread remained at 3 million VND/ounce.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau, the price of SJC gold bars at the end of the trading session was 158.5 - 161.5 million VND/ounce (buy - sell), a decrease of 500,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices compared to the previous session. The buy-sell spread remained at 3 million VND/ounce.
Bao Tin Manh Hai also listed SJC gold bars at around 158.5 - 161.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), a decrease of 500,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices. The buy-sell spread is currently at 3 million VND/ounce.
Meanwhile, Phu Quy Group adjusted the price of SJC gold bars to 158.3 - 161.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price). Compared to yesterday, the buying price decreased by 400,000 VND/ounce, while the selling price decreased by 500,000 VND/ounce. The buy-sell spread remained around 3 million VND/ounce.
Mi Hong continues to be the brand with the lowest buy-sell spread in the market. Currently, SJC gold bars are trading at 158.5 - 160.3 million VND/ounce (buy-sell), a sharp decrease of 700,000 VND/ounce in the buying price and 400,000 VND/ounce in the selling price compared to yesterday. The buy-sell spread at Mi Hong is currently 1.8 million VND/ounce.
