From June 1st, E10 gasoline will be officially distributed nationwide, replacing RON 95 gasoline. E5 RON 92 gasoline will continue to be sold until the end of 2030 to ensure it is available for older motorcycles.
Currently, many large enterprises have pioneered the widespread deployment of this type of biofuel at their affiliated gas stations nationwide. PV OIL has been selling it widely since May 15th at over 1,000 stations; Petrolimex officially switched to selling E10 gasoline from May 25th.
Following the price adjustment effective from 3 PM on May 28th, the retail price of E10 RON 95-III gasoline announced by businesses is 23,660 VND/liter (a decrease of 1,390 VND/liter); E10 RON 95-V gasoline (mainly sold at Petrolimex stores) is priced at 24,560 VND/liter.
At 23,660 VND/liter, E10 RON 95-III gasoline is about 490 VND/liter cheaper than RON 95-III gasoline, similar to the price difference between E10 RON 95-V and RON 95-V.
Regarding the nationwide rollout of E10 gasoline and concerns about its impact on vehicle engines, on May 27th, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan shared his views to clarify the issue.
According to leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the implementation of the roadmap for using biofuels is not a coercive decision or intended to restrict people's choices.

This policy stems from the need for sustainable development, ensuring energy security, protecting the environment, and fulfilling Vietnam's international commitments on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan explained that in the past, Vietnam had applied both mineral gasoline and bio-gasoline simultaneously to allow people time to get used to them, the market to adapt, and businesses to gradually improve their distribution infrastructure, technology, and supply sources.
However, he noted that practice in many countries shows that maintaining too many types of fuel simultaneously for an extended period can lead to numerous drawbacks, such as increased logistics, storage, and distribution costs; difficulties for retail businesses; and reduced effectiveness of green energy transition policies.
Currently, ethanol-blended gasoline is used in more than 60 countries and territories worldwide . In many countries, E10 gasoline is considered an important stepping stone in the transition from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources. The US, EU, Thailand, Brazil, and others have all widely used E10 gasoline for many years.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand and the Philippines are two pioneering countries in the use of biofuels. Thailand currently mainly consumes E10 and encourages E20, while the Philippines mandated the use of E10 since 2011 and applied many tax incentives for biofuels.
E10 bioethanol fuel contains 10% by volume of bioethanol and 90% by volume of traditional gasoline. The use of bioethanol fuel improves engine performance, reduces emissions, and benefits consumers and society.
Because ethanol has a high octane rating (RON - Research Octane Number) of up to 109, mixing it with gasoline helps the fuel resist knocking better.
Furthermore, ethanol contains more oxygen than regular gasoline, which helps the combustion process in the engine to be more complete, increasing power, reducing fuel consumption, and minimizing the emission of harmful substances in engine exhaust.
