On the evening of October 2, Mr. Le Quang Vang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Blu commune (Chu Puh district, Gia Lai ) confirmed that the authorities and local people had just successfully rescued 3 students stuck in the middle of a fast-flowing stream.
Before that, at around 2:00 p.m. the same day, 5 students (primary and secondary) went to Thac 2 stream to bathe when suddenly there was heavy rain upstream, flood water poured down very quickly causing 3 students to not be able to get to shore in time, getting stuck on a rock in the middle of the stream; 2 other students were lucky to get to the other side.
At around 4 p.m., the People's Committee of Ia Blu commune received news that many students were stuck in the middle of the stream, so they mobilized forces to participate in the rescue.
At this time, the water flow was strong and the terrain was difficult, making it difficult to bring the children to shore. Rescuers had to use ropes to pull across the stream to reach the trapped students. At around 6 p.m., rescuers were able to bring all three children safely to shore.
"Luckily the rescue team arrived on time, otherwise it would have been very dangerous because the water rose quickly. The rescue process was a race against time because of the heavy rain, some children got wet, cold and lost their composure," Mr. Vang added.
