The 19th Dedication Awards 2025 witnessed a dramatic voting race, with unexpected changes and strong breakthroughs of nominations in many categories.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Devotion Music Awards accompanying the development of Vietnamese popular music . The awards have increasingly affirmed their prestige and influence, reflecting a vivid picture of Vietnamese music.
Proud to be present at Dedication
This year, the band Buc Tuong was nominated in the category “Show of the Year” with the show “Buc Tuong Unplugged - May Rain.”
According to guitarist Tuan Hung, although the band always tries to do something new and valuable in music, because last year there were so many good shows, being nominated was quite a surprise. Even more special is that this year, Buc Tuong celebrates its 30th anniversary.
“Dedication is a very valuable award and has a long tradition. The Wall has been nominated several times and in 2017, we received the award for 'Program of the Year' with the program 'Lighting Hands.' It was a great honor for The Wall,” the artist shared.
Over the past year, Buc Tuong has also had many domestic musical activities and overseas trips, such as participating in music festivals in India, Vietnam festivals in Japan...
Artist Tuan Hung believes that these performances show that playgrounds for rock music still exist, and if given the opportunity, musicians and rock music lovers should come closer together to spread the love of music.
As for young artist NAN (musician Hong Kien's daughter), when she heard that she was in the Top 5 nominees for "New Artist of the Year," NAN was quite shocked, so shocked that she even asked the Organizing Committee if there was a mistake.
“I have known about the Dedication Award for a long time because Hong Kien’s father was once the Music Director for an award season. This is a prestigious award with many great artists having been honored. Therefore, being nominated for the award is a recognition for me. NAN feels honored and touched,” the artist shared.
Young singer-songwriter NAN added that she feels proud that young artists are having more and more opportunities to perform and be recognized.
Balance between art and entertainment
Evaluating this year's season, musician and critic Nguyen Quang Long said that besides updating and following the music flow, the most outstanding point of the 19th Dedication Awards is the balance: Balance between art and entertainment elements; between familiar faces with the young generation of artists; between traditional programs and programs that open up new trends; between different music genres in the common home of Vietnamese music.
Musician Nguyen Quang Long also noticed some interesting new elements in terms of personnel in the 2025 Dedication Award in the category of "New Artist of the Year" with names that have made an impression on professionals such as marzuz, NAN... in addition to quite famous faces on social networking platforms such as Duong Domic.
According to musician Nguyen Quang Long, Tung Duong and Soobin Hoang Son are two prominent artists that he has written many articles about in the column "Today's Vietnamese Music" in the Sports and Culture newspaper.
“Soobin has revealed many of his hidden talents, which are exploiting national elements in popular music to create traditional and modern music that has great artistic value and is suitable for life; divo Tung Duong has had spectacular breakthroughs along his brilliant musical journey,” musician Nguyen Quang Long shared.
Journalist Ngo Ba Luc, a member of the Voting Council, said that this year's nomination list is not only diverse in musical genres and styles, but also updates musical trends expressed through both the artists' artistic activities and the public's taste.
Specifically, the two programs “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” and “Anh trai say hi” are clear evidence of the change in the way audiences approach music. The nomination list has many names of artists and music products that have been spread thanks to the effects of these two programs.
According to journalist Ngo Ba Luc, the model of music game shows on television shows that production units not only create a playground but also contribute to shaping the entertainment industry model in Vietnam. They not only produce content but also know how to turn artists into stars, bringing music products to the market through "sold-out" concerts.
The Dedication Award also recognizes young artists, the future of Vietnamese music. The “New Artist of the Year” category has featured prominent representatives such as: NÂN, Liu Grace, marzuz, 52Hz, and Dương Domic.
“The new generation of artists today is very versatile. They not only have the ability to compose, sing, dance, produce or rap, but each artist is a combination of many factors. It is worth mentioning that this generation not only inherits the musical heritage of the previous generation, but also has the ability to quickly access the world music flow. The harmonious combination of national identity and modern elements helps them create their own color, not being dissolved when entering the international market,” said journalist Ngo Ba Luc.
Sharing with reporters of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong, Chairman of IB Group Vietnam, the producer of many music programs, said that the Dedication Award has affirmed its prestige and weight after many years of organization.
“The award sets out legitimate professional criteria and is also full of colors, encouraging artists to freely create and serve the public. In addition to the audience's votes, the results also depend on the scores of journalists and the Professional Council, creating great prestige,” commented Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong.
Looking at the list of nominations with fierce competition, Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong assessed that the Award accurately reflected the picture of Vietnamese music during the year.
“2024 is a year of explosive music programs, bringing a new vitality to Vietnamese music, especially the series of programs 'Anh trai vu ngan cong gai' has connected tradition and young artists. They have conveyed national culture through modern language and style. According to the Dedication Award Regulations, the public voting results on Bvote will be combined with the voting results of journalists to find the winner in each category. That is the nomination with the highest score based on the scores from journalists and the public (public accounts for 50%, journalists account for 50%). In case there are 2 or more nominations with the same score, the Organizing Committee will decide by its votes. This result will only be announced at the Award Ceremony on the evening of March 5 at the Hanoi Opera House.
