Drilling and well technical services are the core expertise and key business lines of PV Drilling.
PVD8 rig was built in 2007 according to KFELS Class B Mode V design in Singapore, equipped with leading advanced technologies, the rig is designed with the ability to operate at a maximum water depth of 400 feet and a maximum drilling depth of 30,000 feet.
To put the PVD8 rig into operation in a new state, PV Drilling has carried out the restart work in 2 main phases. Phase 1 is to repair and partially restart the rig in Labuan (Malaysia) from the end of December 2024 and tow the rig back to Vietnam in February 2025. Phase 2 is to upgrade and fully restart the rig in Vung Tau, including testing, acceptance and readiness for operation, with the goal of completion in August 2025.
In parallel with the restart, PV Drilling has implemented a plan to upgrade the PVD8 rig to the equivalent of the new generation of jack-up rigs built since 2016 to update the rig's latest technologies.

As soon as the restart was completed, the PVD8 rig was selected by the Vietsovpetro Joint Venture for the drilling program at Block 09-2/09, expected to be deployed from the end of August 2025. This shows the strong recovery of market demand and the acumen of PV Drilling in promptly seizing opportunities.
This is the first time in Vietnam that a project to restart and upgrade an jack-up rig has been carried out entirely domestically, by Vietnamese engineers, experts and project management teams, said PV Drilling General Director Nguyen Xuan Cuong.
The completion of the project and the commissioning of the PVD8 rig is not only a proud milestone, clearly demonstrating PV Drilling's increasingly strong internal strength, but also opening up many new opportunities for similar projects in the future.

With this project, PV DRILLING VIII not only demonstrates the outstanding technical capacity of PV Drilling's staff, but also symbolizes PV Drilling's creativity, resilience and ambition to reach out in the journey to affirm its position as a Vietnamese drilling contractor in the international market, actively contributing to the development of the country's energy industry, and helping to ensure national energy security.
PV Drilling currently owns a fleet of modern offshore drilling rigs, including 5 jack-up rigs and 1 semi-submersible rig. All of these rigs have been and are under drilling contracts with customers in the Southeast Asian region, such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
