Information from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation this morning (August 31) indicates that the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has sent a letter confirming that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has officially qualified to participate in the FIVB Women's Championship 2025, which will take place in Thailand from August 22 to September 7.
A day earlier, Thailand was announced as the host of the 2025 FIVB Women's Championship. This means they will participate in the tournament as the host nation, and Asia will have one more representative. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team, ranked 4th in the 2023 Asian Championship, was selected, along with China, Japan, and host nation Thailand, making them the four Asian teams participating in the 2025 FIVB Women's Championship.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has qualified for the World Cup for the first time.
Previously, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation received notification from the FIVB that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had the potential to participate in the 2025 World Championship. The FIVB requested that Vietnam submit an application to participate in the tournament, and we have completed the registration procedures.
This is the first time in history that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has qualified for the World Volleyball Championship. The tournament features 32 teams, with the first 16 spots going to the defending champions (Serbia) and 15 top-ranked teams from continental championships (the top 3 teams from each continent). The remaining 16 spots will include one for the host team and 15 top-ranked teams that have not yet qualified.
The 32 teams participating in the FIVB Women's Championship 2025 are Serbia, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Kenya, Egypt, Cameroon, Thailand, China, Japan, Turkey, Netherlands, Italy, Dominican Republic, USA, Canada, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, France, Cuba, Bulgaria, Sweden, Mexico, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Greece, and Vietnam.
