Regarding this issue, education experts say that, according to Clause 1, Article 6 of the Regulations on working regime for general education teachers (Issued with Circular No. 28/2009/TT-BGDDT dated October 21, 2009 of the Minister of Education and Training ), the teaching norm for primary school teachers is 23 periods, for secondary school teachers is 19 periods, and for high school teachers is 17 periods.

Article 10 of the above Regulations states: Teachers recruited under a work contract for the first time will have 2 periods reduced per week. Female teachers with children under 12 months old will have 3 periods reduced per week (for high school and middle school teachers) and 4 periods reduced per week (for primary school teachers).

Teaching hour norms for teachers have been clearly stipulated in legal documents, so the conversion is based on the guiding circulars of the Ministry of Education and Training (illustrative photo).

Article 11 of the above Regulation provides guidance on converting other professional activities into teaching periods as follows: For teachers teaching specialized subjects at specialized schools and specialized classes, 1 specialized subject teaching period is calculated as 3 standard periods.

In addition to the main teaching task in class, teachers must also perform professional activities and other activities as assigned by the principal. The conversion of these activities into teaching periods to calculate the number of teaching hours for each teacher is done as follows:

For teachers mobilized to work as inspector collaborators, the working time of a session is calculated as 5 standard periods. For teachers mobilized to participate in guidance, training, and professional training organized by the Department of Education and Training, 1 practical teaching period is calculated as 1.5 standard periods.

For extracurricular reports for students organized by the school (with lesson plans or report outlines), the actual number of reporting periods is calculated as equivalent to the standard number of periods. The principal shall, based on the actual situation, stipulate the conversion of teaching periods for other professional work after receiving the consent of the Director of the Department of Education and Training.

Based on the above regulations and your letter, your case is reduced by 3 periods/week (due to raising a child under 1 year old). Regarding your participation in the school's training of excellent students, there are currently no conversion instructions.
