A teacher at Quang Chieu Secondary School, Muong Lat District, Thanh Hoa Province, used scissors to cut the hair of a 7th grade student because he forgot to bring his notebook.


According to Ms. Len Thi Loi (parent) of student Ha Dinh D., class 7B, Quang Chieu Secondary School, Muong Lat district, on the morning of February 5, during a CivicEducation class, teacher Bui Thi Thu used scissors to cut her child's hair because he forgot to bring his notebook.

"That day, it was not until 12 o'clock that I saw my child come home from school crying. I asked him why he was crying. At that time, he said that the teacher cut his hair because he forgot to bring his notebook during civics class," Ms. Loi said indignantly.

Speaking with Dan Viet Newspaper reporter, Mr. Doan Van Son, principal of Quang Chieu Secondary School, Muong Lat district confirmed that it was true that Ms. Thu cut a student's hair during class.

According to Mr. Son, after the incident, the school, teachers and commune leaders went to the students' homes to apologize.

"Ms. Bui Thi Thu, currently a contract teacher, teaches civics. After the incident, the school asked Ms. Thu to write a report and the school disciplined her by suspending her from teaching for a week," added Mr. Doan Van Son, principal of Quang Chieu Secondary School.

A leader of the Muong Lat District Education Department also said that the department has received the above information but is waiting for a specific report to have an official conclusion on the above incident.
