In the 2024-2025 school year, Binh Duong will have about 521,000 students, an increase of 25,000 students compared to the previous school year, with the public sector alone increasing by more than 17,200 students.
With the increase in students, Binh Duong continues to face a shortage of teachers and facilities. Regarding this issue, speaking with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Nhat Hang, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province, said that in the new school year, Binh Duong is short of about 3,222 teachers according to the norm, with cities with large populations such as Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen, and Thu Dau Mot having the biggest shortage.
First grade students of Phu Loi 1 Primary School (Thu Dau Mot City) visit and experience the school campus.
According to Ms. Hang, regarding the lack of facilities, although Binh Duong had predicted the situation, invested in building, upgrading and renovating 12 new schools, adding 266 classrooms, in the new school year, many schools still could not arrange boarding for students.
According to statistics, Binh Duong currently has 713 schools, including 375 public schools and 338 non-public schools.
The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province said that in order to ensure teaching and learning, the Department and localities continue to recommend that the province prioritize capital investment in equipment to build more schools and classrooms, especially in areas with rapidly increasing population. In addition, it is necessary to create an open mechanism and resolve difficulties to encourage organizations, individuals and businesses to participate in investing in educational activities.
Regarding the shortage of teachers, Ms. Hang said that the Department has been actively implementing the recruitment of teachers, in which districts and cities are given autonomy in recruiting officials in the education sector. To supplement human resources, the Department is also coordinating with the Department of Home Affairs to propose the Provincial People's Committee to consider and allow contracts with the missing teachers.
Some other solutions include transferring teachers between schools and districts to ensure resource balance; contracting guest teachers; organizing online teaching combined with direct teaching to increase teaching efficiency...
