Introducing Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc for election as Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Politburo 's decision on personnel changes was handed to Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc by the City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen on the afternoon of February 19th.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, originally from Ben Luc district, Long An province, holds a master's degree in geology and has a long history of working and living in this locality.

From 1993 to 2005, Mr. Được began working at the Land Management Board (now the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long An province). Subsequently, from July 2006 to March 2013, he held positions such as: Director of the Provincial Land Use Rights Registration Office, Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Thanh Hoa district, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long An province.

From April 2013 to October 2020, he held the positions of Secretary of Tan Thanh District, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Long An Province, and then Standing Deputy Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee.

At the 11th Congress of the Long An Provincial Party Committee on October 14, 2020, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc was elected to the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. In November of the same year, he was elected to the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Council for the 2016-2021 term and has held these positions to date.

At the 13th National Congress of the Party on January 30, 2021, Mr. Được was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Party for the 2021-2026 term.

Speaking at the conference, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen said that immediately after this decision-making ceremony, the city is preparing the procedures for the City People's Council to elect Mr. Duoc to the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee in accordance with regulations.

The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee currently has 5 members, including: Secretary Nguyen Van Nen and 4 Deputy Secretaries: Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Chairwoman of the City People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi and Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc. Mr. Phan Van Mai, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee, was elected Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee on February 18th.
