On duty to guard tourists.

In recent days, the number of tourists visiting and swimming at Binh Minh beach (Thang An commune) has increased sharply, placing high demands on management and safety. In light of this situation, the local authorities have identified the central and overarching task in organizing beach tourism activities as ensuring the safety of both residents and tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thang An commune, said that the locality pays special attention to environmental sanitation, considering it an important factor in improving the image of the beach, creating a good impression and attracting tourists.

Simultaneously, efforts to ensure the safety of tourists while swimming at the beach have been strengthened. Local authorities are stepping up measures to warn and guide people to safe swimming areas, reminding residents and tourists to comply with regulations. In the future, the locality will establish a specialized rescue team and organize regular patrols at the beach, especially during peak hours.

In Quang Phu ward, efforts to ensure the safety of residents and tourists at the beaches are regularly maintained, especially during peak tourist season. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chau, Head of the Rescue and Salvage Team at the beaches in Quang Phu ward, said that on weekdays, Tam Thanh beach receives about 700-800 visitors, but this number doubles on weekends and holidays.

The team currently has 7 members, assigned to different areas along the beach, regularly using flags and whistles to warn and guide tourists to swim in safe areas. Since the beginning of the year, the force has assisted in and promptly handled more than 30 cases of drowning, contributing to ensuring the safety of tourists participating in activities at the beach.

Building safe destinations

Recently, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (City Police) has intensified the organization of large-scale rescue drills to improve its capacity to respond to incidents in both mountainous and coastal areas. Through these drills, units have honed their skills in handling realistic situations and enhanced their coordination in search and rescue operations. Having proactive personnel and equipment helps improve the effectiveness of incident response and minimize damage when risks occur.

The commander of the Fire and Rescue Police Department stated that the key factor in rescue operations is minimizing the time it takes to reach victims. Especially in coastal areas or rugged mountainous terrain, even a few minutes' delay can directly affect the lives of those in need. With a significant increase in tourists visiting Da Nang during the summer, safety measures at key tourist destinations are being tightened, contributing to a safe, civilized, and friendly tourism environment.

The Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang's tourist beaches has also recently reorganized its rescue and emergency response force to be more professional and systematic. Currently, the unit has organized 20 teams along the entire beach area with 97 members who have been thoroughly trained in rescue techniques, first aid for injuries, observation skills, risk detection, and emergency response. The force is deployed in shifts, ensuring 100% staffing from morning to evening, especially at popular beaches such as My Khe, Pham Van Dong, T20, and Man Thai.

In addition, the management has enhanced rescue equipment such as canoes, jet skis, and lifebuoys; and installed a safety warning system including color-coded signal flags, signs warning of rip currents, and loudspeakers to remind tourists.

Training and workshops are also regularly conducted to improve skills in handling accidents, providing cardiopulmonary first aid, etc. Daily inspections and monitoring of dangerous areas, points with strong currents, and weather conditions are carried out regularly to promptly advise on the opening and closing of bathing areas.

Mr. Phan Minh Hai, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang's tourist beaches, informed that during this year's tourist season, the management board has identified several key solutions to improve the effectiveness of rescue and emergency response, especially at crowded beaches. Rescue forces have been strengthened and deployed in each area, ensuring 100% staffing during peak season. Teams are assigned shifts appropriately, maintaining continuous observation; and buoys are deployed to delineate safe areas, guiding tourists to swim in the correct locations.

The Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang's tourist beaches has also focused on improving the professional capacity of its rescue forces; investing in rescue equipment and conducting regular inspections to ensure effective operation. A synchronized safety warning system is maintained with signal flags, warning signs, and loudspeakers. In addition, the unit strengthens coordination with the police, border guards, and medical forces, and promotes awareness and guidance for tourists to comply with regulations, contributing to ensuring a safe and civilized beach tourism environment.
