Maintaining peace on the border

Since the merger, the Provincial Border Guard has proactively implemented a comprehensive range of operational measures, effectively combating various types of crime and contributing to maintaining peace along the border.

On November 22, 2025, the Provincial Border Guard Force arrested one individual for illegally transporting over 7 billion VND across the border. Following this, on May 7, 2026, the unit apprehended another individual for illegally transporting 1 kg of 24K gold across the border. To achieve these results, the Party Committee and Command of the Provincial Border Guard Force have thoroughly implemented directives, resolutions, and conclusions from higher authorities regarding military , national defense, and border defense tasks; concretizing them into resolutions and plans, and deploying comprehensive border defense measures, especially in mass mobilization and operational work.

Following directives from higher authorities regarding the fight against the illegal trafficking of gold and currency across the border, and the prevention and control of various types of crime in general, the Provincial Border Guard Command has implemented numerous intensive plans to combat crime, human trafficking, smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods. The force has successfully investigated many major cases and arrested numerous individuals involved in the illegal buying, selling, storing, and transporting of narcotics, money, gold, cigarettes, gasoline, and other valuable goods. Dozens of individuals have been prosecuted, and tens of kilograms of narcotics, hundreds of thousands of cigarette packs, and other valuable goods have been confiscated.

Colonel Nguyen Van Hiep, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard, stated: “In addition to professional duties, we have done a good job in mobilizing the masses, conducting special propaganda, and disseminating and educating the public on the law among ethnic minorities in border, coastal, and island areas. At the same time, we have implemented many innovative and effective programs, models, and approaches to contribute to building political foundations and developing the socio-economic conditions of border regions.”

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Hiep, many exemplary models have been effectively implemented, such as Party members from border guard posts participating in activities in hamlets and neighborhoods; the "Helping Children Go to School - Children Adopted by Border Guard Posts" program, soldiers helping children go to school, foster mothers, charitable rice jars, self-governing security and order groups, and programs to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses... These actions, imbued with profound humanitarian significance, have actively contributed to poverty reduction and the construction of new rural areas in the locality. As a result, ethnic minority people in border areas increasingly trust the leadership of the Party, the administration of all levels of government, and the core, specialized role of the border guard forces in protecting national sovereignty and border security. People in border areas always love, trust, and readily participate in movements initiated by border guard posts. At the same time, it provides valuable information, support in terms of equipment, personnel, and resources to enable border guards to carry out their nhiệm vụ of combating and apprehending various types of criminals along the border.

According to Colonel Nguyen Hong Khiem, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Border Guard, in the current situation, given the complex developments of various types of crimes, illegal entry and exit, smuggling, and commercial fraud, the Provincial Border Guard force continues to implement many comprehensive operational measures, strengthen patrols and controls, and maintain national sovereignty and border security. Units are increasing their presence at the grassroots level to thoroughly understand the local situation and targets. Border guard posts and stations regularly coordinate with local Party committees, authorities, police, military, and other functional forces to organize bilateral patrols, comprehensive patrols, protect the national border markers and border lines, and maintain security and order in border areas. In addition, they strictly maintain the procedures for inspecting and monitoring people and vehicles entering and leaving border areas and checkpoints in accordance with the law.

In the coming period, the Provincial Border Guard will continue to strengthen propaganda and raise legal awareness among the people; effectively implement self-management models for border areas, boundary markers, and safe vessels, contributing to building a solid all-people border defense posture. At the same time, they will actively participate in helping people develop the economy, reduce poverty, build new rural areas, prevent and combat natural disasters, and conduct rescue operations; building a positive image of soldiers in green uniforms helping people repair houses, providing seedlings and livestock, and rescuing fishermen in distress at sea.

The provincial Border Guard independently apprehended 21 cases involving 29 individuals for the illegal buying, storing, and transporting of narcotics, seizing approximately 2.8 kg of various types of drugs; arrested 67 cases involving 65 individuals for smuggling with a total value of over 9.9 billion VND; and detected and handled 368 cases involving more than 2,000 individuals for illegal entry and exit, along with many other types of crimes.
