In addition to imparting knowledge, many schools in the province are striving to equip students with safe life skills, helping them learn how to protect themselves and assist others in unexpected or emergency situations.

At Nhat Quang Primary and Secondary School (Tien Tien commune), extracurricular fire safety lessons have left many profound lessons for students. Not only are students equipped with theoretical knowledge of fire prevention and firefighting, but they are also guided in detail by officers and soldiers of the Tien Tien commune police on how to use fire extinguishers and handle fire emergencies. Through vivid and visual methods, simulated scenarios, and practical firefighting skills exercises, the commune police have taught students essential escape skills in case of fire or explosion at home or school.
Mr. Pham Xuan Ha, Principal of Nhat Quang Primary and Secondary School, said: "Recently, many fires have occurred nationwide, causing serious consequences in terms of human lives and property, raising an urgent alarm about the consequences of fire incidents. Therefore, every year, the school's management board, in coordination with relevant authorities, organizes fire safety training sessions for all teachers and students. In addition, the school integrates fire safety knowledge into various subjects and flag-raising ceremonies. Each training session, each thematic activity, or each experiential activity on fire safety is not only a beneficial extracurricular lesson but also equips students with solid skills for life."
To raise awareness and equip students with the necessary knowledge for using social media, in early April 2026, Vu Hoa Primary and Secondary School (Hong Vu commune) organized an extracurricular workshop on the topics of "Safe and Smart Social Media Use" and "Preventing and Combating School Violence." During the program, police officers from Hong Vu commune directly disseminated basic knowledge to students on how to use social media safely, respectfully, and responsibly. The content focused on identifying potential risks in cyberspace such as fraud, harmful information, and privacy violations; how to protect personal information; appropriate behavior when participating in social media; and how to select positive and useful information to share. In addition, a legal expert from the Department of Justice helped students learn about different forms of school violence, their causes and consequences, as well as skills to prevent, avoid, and handle situations when school violence occurs. Through skits, hypothetical scenarios, and direct interaction and exchange, the students confidently shared their thoughts and opinions, thereby raising awareness of building a safe, friendly, and violence-free school environment. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hue, a 9th-grade student from Vu Hoa Primary and Secondary School (Hong Vu commune), shared: "The way the police officers conveyed the information was very engaging and attractive. Participating in fun quizzes with prizes helped me easily understand and remember the knowledge and skills for preventing school violence and using social media safely to protect myself and my loved ones."
In the 2025-2026 school year, the province currently has over 1,200 educational institutions from preschool to high school with more than 733,000 students. Along with organizing core subjects, 100% of educational institutions in the province organize activities to promote and guide students in developing life skills appropriate to each grade level. The forms of organizing safe life skills education activities are diverse, such as: organizing exchanges, seminars, weekly flag-raising ceremonies, and dramatizations. In addition, schools regularly organize online competitions in the form of answering questions and writing essays on various topics, attracting student participation. These activities help students access knowledge in a vivid and engaging way, making it easier to remember. Through learning through play and playing through learning, safe life skills are no longer dry theoretical knowledge but become practical experiences closely linked to the daily lives of students. Throughout their journey to adulthood, students need not only knowledge but also skills to protect themselves from unexpected situations. Through various engaging methods, schools' education in life skills has been contributing to the formation of a generation of students who are resilient, confident, and well-rounded. To achieve greater success in this area, in addition to the school's efforts, the cooperation of parents and society as a whole is needed to help students gradually improve their skills, knowledge, and understanding of life, thereby fostering their holistic personal development.
