Mau Son commune currently has 19 villages and a border length of 16.325 km; there are 34 main border markers and 15 auxiliary border markers along the border. The security situation in the area is fraught with complex issues related to illegal immigration, smuggling, and the transportation of prohibited goods...
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Trong Toi, Political Officer of the Chi Ma Border Gate Border Guard Station, said: "To protect the border, border markers, and maintain security and order, the unit regularly stays close to the grassroots, organizes patrols and controls the area closely, proactively exchanges information, and coordinates with other forces to combat and suppress all types of crime, maintaining stability in the security and order situation in the area."
From 2025 to the present, the unit has coordinated nearly 50 comprehensive patrols, with over 700 officers, soldiers, and militia members participating. Through these patrols, they have detected and apprehended 43 cases involving 77 individuals for offenses such as: illegal possession of narcotics, illegal possession of military weapons, and illegal cross-border transportation of goods. Seized items include: nearly 6.3g of heroin; one military weapon, 20 lead bullets; 4,800 chicks, over 10,000 kg of frozen chicken feet, and 1,840 kg of sausages without proper documentation. All cases have been handled strictly in accordance with the law.
In addition, recognizing the potential for complex developments regarding illegal border crossings, the unit has deployed checkpoints along the border and on access roads within its jurisdiction, ensuring it is not caught off guard in any situation. Simultaneously, it has intensified legal awareness campaigns among the people and resolutely dealt with violations. From 2025 to the present, the unit has detected, processed, and handed over for handling 25 cases involving 42 individuals who illegally crossed the border or organized illegal border crossings.
The above tasks were implemented closely and effectively by the Chi Ma Border Gate Border Guard Station. Mr. Ma Van An, Squad Leader of the Long Dau Border Guard Post in Mau Son commune, said: "Our squad regularly coordinates with the Chi Ma Border Gate Border Guard Station to exchange information and organize patrols to maintain security and order, and protect the border and boundary markers. From the beginning of 2026 until now, we have participated with the border guards in patrolling and protecting the border and boundary markers 11 times."
To protect peace on the border, the Chi Ma Border Gate Border Guard Station has also paid close attention to mobilizing the people's participation in protecting the border line and boundary markers. From 2025 to the present, the unit has successfully persuaded 55 households in Mau Son commune to donate land for the construction of roads to inspect boundary markers and protect the border, and to sign commitments to cooperate with border guards in protecting the border line and boundary markers.
The unit also regularly visits, exchanges information, and gives gifts to encourage families, thereby encouraging the people to actively cooperate and become "eyes and ears" supporting the functional forces in maintaining security and order, promptly detecting, preventing, and handling incidents occurring on the border.
Mr. Hoang Vinh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Mau Son commune, said: "In recent times, officers and soldiers of the Chi Ma Border Gate Border Guard Station have always upheld a high sense of responsibility, overcome difficulties, and worked day and night to closely monitor the local situation, strictly control the movement of people and vehicles in and out of the border area, detect and strictly handle incidents at the grassroots level, and ensure security and order in the border region. The unit also maintains close contact with the local Party committee and government, strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people in Mau Son commune, contributing to building a strong and comprehensive border area."
In the coming period, the Chi Ma Border Gate Border Guard Station will continue to closely coordinate with other forces to comprehensively implement professional measures to prevent and combat crime and violations of the law in the area. At the same time, it will uphold the spirit of "The station is our home, the border is our homeland, and the people of all ethnic groups are our brothers and sisters," contributing to maintaining security and order in the border area of Mau Son commune.
