Meeting her at the San Diu ethnic cultural festival in Thien Ke commune, we were immediately drawn to her booth showcasing traditional ethnic costumes. Her booth was the only one where goods were being bought and sold, while the others only displayed and introduced their products. She enthusiastically said that many people had already inquired about buying accessories such as headscarves, tassels, and belts that morning, as these decorative items help to make the costumes stand out. Some even asked to buy complete outfits for their children. She was very happy that young people are increasingly fond of traditional ethnic costumes.

Holding a piece of clothing on display, she explained: "The traditional clothing of the San Diu women is indigo in color. The blouse has four panels, reaching to the knees, with a short inner shirt, a white bodice, a multi-layered skirt reaching to the knees, and white leggings wrapped around the calves. The headscarf is simple, serving both as an adornment and to keep the hair tidy. The lapels are trimmed with white fabric, forming two soft white 'V' shapes that open from the shoulders and close at the waist. The collar is decorated with two silver buttons, with beautiful blue and red tassels at the ends. Although the San Diu clothing is not elaborate, it is accentuated by the belt, braided from striking blue and red wool threads."

At nearly 80 years old, Mrs. Vong is still passionate about making traditional costumes.

Jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, and silver rings enhance a woman's elegance. Additionally, older women often carry a betel nut pouch. The pouch is sewn in the shape of a grapefruit segment. The patterns on the pouch are mostly embroidered based on the woman's imagination and creativity. Typically, the pouch has three large floral patterns in various colors. A short tassel is attached to the side of the pouch to add a touch of softness.

Unlike women's clothing, San Diu men's attire is simpler and more rustic, yet still exudes a healthy and strong appearance. The trousers and shirts are indigo-colored; the shirts are made in the "ba ba" style with two large pockets; the trousers are long, with an elastic waistband and very wide legs for ease of climbing mountains and working in the fields.

Ms. Vong guides the women in the village in wearing traditional clothing.

According to Ms. Vong, in the past, San Diu women wore traditional clothing in their daily lives, working in the fields, and during festivals and holidays; but nowadays, they usually only wear it when attending festivals or important community events. Furthermore, very few people know how to make the traditional clothing, and even wearing it requires guidance from experienced people, especially in the process of tying the headscarf and wrapping the leggings. Therefore, when she participated in the Huong Sac Club of the commune, she taught how to make and wear traditional clothing. Now, despite her advanced age and no longer participating in the club's activities, she still dedicates her time to teaching her children and grandchildren in the family and the commune how to preserve traditional clothing.

San Diu children wear traditional clothing and participate in folk games.

She is happiest that even young children now love traditional clothing. They wear San Diu costumes when attending festivals, performing in cultural shows, and participating in folk games... She believes that from this love, the younger generation will develop an awareness of preserving and spreading their love for traditional culture.
