Help students avoid landmines left over from the war

(Baohatinh.vn) - The Vietnam Association for Support in Overcoming Consequences of Bombs and Mines in coordination with the People's Committee of Can Loc district (Ha Tinh) promoted education for students and gave gifts to victims of bombs and mines in the area.

On the afternoon of May 22, the Vietnam Association for Support in Overcoming Consequences of Bombs and Mines in coordination with the Peace Fund and the People's Committee of Can Loc district jointly organized a propaganda program to raise awareness of mine accident prevention, provide livelihood support to bomb and mine victims and give bicycles to poor students in the first phase of 2025.

Attending the program were Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Khoa - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Support in Overcoming Consequences of Bombs and Mines.

At the program, delegates and students in Can Loc district watched documentary films and discussed the harmful effects and ways to prevent mines left over from the war.

Students participated in answering multiple choice questions about how to recognize and prevent the harmful effects of bombs, mines, and explosives.

The program also provided livelihood support to 20 victims of mine accidents in Can Loc district, each worth 6 million VND; and 10 bicycles (each worth 2 million VND) to 10 poor students who have overcome difficulties.

Speaking at the program, Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Khoa - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Support in Overcoming Consequences of Bombs and Mines emphasized that since 2014, the association has directly disseminated information to many people and students nationwide about bomb and mine prevention; supported the livelihoods of more than 6,000 bomb and mine victims; and presented gifts and bicycles to many poor students who have overcome difficulties.

Through this propaganda program, it is an opportunity for local people and students to continue to raise awareness of mine accident prevention; mine accident victims effectively use livelihood support resources to develop their family economy , escape poverty sustainably, have a peaceful and developed life, and leave no one behind.
