The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document assigning the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and localities to urgently inspect and supervise establishments with recognized OCOP products. The focus is on assessing the maintenance of quality standards, supporting documents, origin, production and business conditions, and food hygiene and safety.

OCOP is not only a product, but also a brand of a land.

OCOP is not only a product, but also a brand, the pride of a land.

It is especially emphasized that if cases of using raw materials of unknown origin, violating standards, committing commercial fraud, counterfeiting trademarks or not ensuring food hygiene and safety conditions are discovered, they must be resolutely handled in accordance with legal regulations.

In addition, localities need to regularly review OCOP product profiles in the area, promptly correct or recommend revoking recognition for products that no longer meet standards after being ranked.

Along with the inspection work, the province also requires specialized units to increase support for OCOP producers in completing documents, upgrading packaging, labels, building brands and tracing origins. Trade promotion activities, connecting consumption, and bringing products into modern retail systems also need to be further promoted.

This direction of Gia Lai province shows a drastic shift from chasing quantity to focusing on real quality in the One Commune One Product program. Because when OCOP becomes a “passport” for agricultural products to reach large markets, ensuring reputation and quality is a vital factor.

This is not only a move to “clean up” the OCOP product market, but also contributes to resetting the development standards for the entire agricultural and rural ecosystem. Enterprises, cooperatives, and production households need to change their mindset from fragmented production to professionalism, responsibility to consumers, and respect for the value of local products. Because OCOP is not only a product, but also a brand, the pride of a land.
