Due to the impact of prolonged floods, communes such as Dai Loc, Nong Son, Hiep Duc, Hung Son, especially the areas along the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River... were deeply flooded, leaving many students without a notebook or pen to continue studying. In the midst of such difficult circumstances, the spirit of "mutual love" was strongly spread in the community.

In Thanh Khe ward, the movement to donate books and school supplies to students in flood-affected areas was widely launched. Mr. Le Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of Thanh Khe Ward People's Committee said: "With the spirit of sharing, in just a few days, hundreds of sets of textbooks, white notebooks, pens and school bags were prepared by children themselves to give to friends in disaster-affected areas."

Ha Nguyen Khanh Vy, a 5A student at Tran Cao Van Primary School, said: “I saw on TV that my friends in Dai Loc commune had all their books swept away by the flood. I feel so sorry for them. I asked my mother for some blank notebooks and some storybooks to give to them, hoping they can go to school soon.”

Not only students, but also teachers responded wholeheartedly. Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Principal of Tran Cao Van Primary School shared: “I was really touched when I saw the students participating very voluntarily and sincerely. Many students brought to school very new items, some even wrote handwritten letters to send their best wishes to their friends in the flood-affected areas. Those simple actions show that the students are growing up not only in knowledge but also in love and responsibility to the community.”

In Nong Son commune, one of the localities affected by the flood, the Nong Son Commune Youth Union quickly coordinated with local schools to organize a program to receive and give gifts to students in the flooded areas. The flood left behind a desolate scene, the school yard covered in mud, desks and chairs damaged, many children came to class without a single notebook or pen.

Understanding that difficulty, the youth union members in the commune urgently mobilized donations and connected with benefactors to collect books and school supplies for students.

Mr. Vu Kim Ngoc, Secretary of the Nong Son Commune Youth Union, said: “During the recent flood, the commune had 4 deeply flooded villages including Dai Binh, Trung Phuoc 2, Phuoc Vien and Trung Nam; many children lost all their books and backpacks. Up to now, the Commune Youth Union has collected hundreds of sets of books and received 200 sponsored gifts, each consisting of 5 notebooks and 2 pens, to give to students in the commune and also to students in the neighboring Que Phuoc commune.”

The books and notebooks, though small, are a great source of encouragement for students in flood-affected areas. Each gift contains the sentiments of many hearts, and is a testament to the spirit of “helping each other”, a beautiful humanistic value. The sharing of the community is a support for students in flood-affected areas to overcome their loss and help them go to school.
