Due to the prolonged heavy rains and flooding, communes such as Dai Loc, Nong Son, Hiep Duc, Hung Son, especially areas along the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river, were severely flooded, leaving many students without notebooks or pens to continue their studies. Amidst these difficult circumstances, the spirit of "mutual support and compassion" spread strongly throughout the community.

In Thanh Khe ward, a campaign to donate books and school supplies to students in flood-affected areas has been widely launched. Mr. Le Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Khe Ward People's Committee, said: "With a spirit of sharing, in just a few days, hundreds of sets of textbooks, notebooks, pens, and school bags were prepared by the children themselves to send as gifts to their friends in the disaster-stricken areas."

Ha Nguyen Khanh Vy, a 5th-grade student from Tran Cao Van Primary School, expressed: “I saw on TV that the children in Dai Loc commune had all their books swept away by the flood, and I felt so sorry for them. I asked my mother for some blank notebooks and storybooks to donate, hoping they can return to school soon.”

Not only the students, but also the teachers wholeheartedly participated. Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Principal of Tran Cao Van Primary School, shared: “I was truly moved to see the students participate so voluntarily and sincerely. Many students brought items that were still very new to school, and some even wrote handwritten letters sending wishes to their friends in the flood-affected areas. These simple actions show that the children are growing not only in knowledge but also in compassion and responsibility towards the community.”

In Nong Son commune, one of the areas severely affected by the floods, the Nong Son Youth Union quickly coordinated with local schools to organize a program to receive and distribute gifts to students in the flooded areas. The flood left behind a desolate scene: mud-covered schoolyards, damaged desks and chairs, and many children arriving at school without even a notebook or pen.

Understanding the difficulties faced, the youth union members in the commune promptly mobilized donations and connected with benefactors to collect books and school supplies for the students.

According to Vu Kim Ngoc, Secretary of the Youth Union of Nong Son commune: “During the recent floods, four villages in the commune were deeply submerged: Dai Binh, Trung Phuoc 2, Phuoc Vien, and Trung Nam; many children lost all their books and backpacks. To date, the Youth Union has collected hundreds of sets of books and received donations for 200 gift packages, each containing 5 notebooks and 2 pens, to be given to students in the commune and also to children in the neighboring Que Phuoc commune.”

Though small, these books and notebooks are a great source of encouragement for students in flood-affected areas. Each gift contains the affection of countless kind hearts, a testament to the spirit of "mutual support" and beautiful human values. The sharing of the community is a pillar of support for students in flood-affected areas to overcome their losses and empower them to continue their education.
